its superb land, sadly not my permission. both my lurchers are half crosses, she is coming up 4 years old.my dog is nearly three. they suit me but plenty have commented that they are slow.cant argue with that but they are fast enough for what i want(most of the time anyway )
-
just a pic from yesterday out rabbiting with the lurcher.
-
havent read it but i bet its a good laugh. i remember reading a weird article in c/weekly about "scruffling " terriers by this nutter.something about ragging your dog out from under your bed to get it used to being pulled out of earths. :11:
-
that dog looks a lot racier than my two.hows it bred.
-
the first cross gwp can be a bit slow sometimes but i dont think they are any different than other first crosses, the first cross suits me but a 3/4 bred would suit others.the same would apply if we were talking about collie crosses. im no dog trainer but my two are reasonably biddable.they were a bit headstrong as pups especially the bitch but both have settled down ok. HERES A FEW STILLS FROM MY BITCHES FIRST FERRETING TRIP WHICH IVE COPIED ONTO DVD.

sometimes they turn the wheel right round but usually just rock it from side to side.its very easily turned and the " wheel" bit is light.as you can see its only made from what we call fibre kegs, like a tough cardboard. not all the ferrets go in it and they dont rattle round it like a hamster but it defo keeps them occupied. i never would have thought ferrets would use something like a wheel untill i saw what keeps has.

A FEW PICS OF MY SET-UP I MADE THIS WHEEL AND BOLTED IT TO THE SIDE OF THE FERRET COURT,THEY LOVE IT.

sorry to hear that.

i use a hose which will withstand the heat coming from the smoker no matter how hot it gets.i had a 6 inch pipe welded to the exhaust and a jubilee clip holds the hose to that.

i hope this dosent turn into another hard vs bayer debate. steve109 ive had rubbish dogs and ive had a couple of pretty good ones.are you saying i did something different to the crap ones and thats why they turned out that way?

What do people want from there terriers
phil wright replied to a topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
i take my terriers out cover hunting nearly everyday and have done for 13 years.on three occasions a terrier has become stuck and needed digging out of a rabbity spot.never have i had to dig out a terrier baying a rabbit yet i expect my terriers to catch rabbits regularly.if you want a bushing terrier you need to take it out at a young age and it will learn that rabbits once in the ground arent fair game.............its easy to get any terrier,of any type,to do this.if i kept a terrier on a leash or in a kennel for a couple of years and then took it out chasing bunnies id expect it to mess abo -

i agree with stabs on that. i also think that far too many people call their terriers allrounders just because they do a bit bushing, ratting and once bolted a fox or something. i have a black dog here that bushes and rats as good as most and catches the odd pheasant.at feather hes better than anything ive owned in the past.in my opinion hes a good sporting terrier but isnt yet an allrounder, to me an allrounder has to be good to ground. for example any terrier that dosent stay can never be called an allrounder imo. -
i didnt get chance to have a go at marlin when i was in hawaii.i think it cost 500 dollars for half a day which isnt bad considering you might catch the fish of a lifetime.the same lads who run the trip had gone out the day before i met them and hooked what they said was a big thresher shark.they had to cut it loose in the end. the same lads spotted the 20 foot great white that was filmed off the north shore this year but it wouldnt take any bait.it just kept swimming under the boat.the captain who runs the boats told me he was woken up at 2.00 in the morning by one of his lads telling him

so sorry to hear that.

when i let my dogs out into the garden they will head straight for the herbs, fruit and will strip the pea line.not sure why but they do like to eat certain foods. the border terrier we have will eat nettles, loves them.weird but true, but then she is the most greedy dog ive ever known.
-
cheers rainmaker.if what you say is right, and you seem to know your stuff it will save quite a bit of time not having to shred veg up. i feed pigs heads and trotters to the dogs sometimes but their main food is chicken carcasses and wings.after that they get alot of raw meaty bones of all sorts.
-
ive always been led to believe that veg was needed to complete the diet. if not its going to make feeding my dogs alot easier.
-
im not getting ripped off i get it all for free,i even get the essential veg needed for a dogs diet free aswell. :11: i wouldnt strip all the fat off either.ive got a mincer but it cant cope with chicken carcases but the dogs dont need it minced up anyway.the only time i mince food up is if ive got a puppy or a terrier is knocked up.

i went snorkelling with spinner dolphins in hawaii but there a different animal altogether.didnt stick around as long.

AIRGUN LAMP...............
phil wright replied to deep dig's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
DEEPDIG WHAT WILL YOU BE LAMPING.IVE SHOT A LOT OF RATS WITH A LAZERLITE.ITS EVEN BETTER WITH A RED FILTER.AS ITS ALL IN FARM BUILDINGS,UP CLOSE, I DONT EVEN NEED TO FIT IT TO THE RIFLE.I JUST HOLD IT BESIDE THE GUN.MIND I USE THE VERY LIGHTWEIGHT RWS SCIMITAR.I DID BUY THE LOGUN LAMP BUT SOON GOT RID,NOT ENOUGH POWER EVEN FOR CLOSE RANGE BUT THATS JUST MY OPINION. -
plenty of mullet where i stayed in turkey but you couldnt fish that part of the harbour.i dont do much fishing here so try and do a bit when im abroad. in saying that i plan to do a bit shark fishing in britain next year.............thats the type of fishing i could really get into. i regret not going fishing in gran canaria a few years ago, they had pics of good sized sharks.instead i went on a dolphin sighting trip and that was one of the best experiences ive had.we were at the front of the boat about 2 foot off the water.the baby dolphins would swim beside the boat and turn on their sid

its the same lad who did the lurchermaia vids.ive always rated ratcatchers as the best ratting vid made so far.purely because whilst theres less rats than on others you get to see good clear catches.one dog-one rat action. the clip where the rat and ferret are fighting before miner picks it off is pure class.i heard the tri coloured plummer died working to ground.maybe someone can confirm what happened to him. i tried to find out when myself and its breeder curtis price wanted to know if it made a worker.if it had we may have asked to use it on my bitch. i gave my copy to a farmer, ill
