Good for you .The question is do plumbers make good earth dogs ,if given the chance,or are they too special to be worked in this way ?.After all, they are still terriers. Did the geat man breed away from earth going stock to create the best ratting dog alive or has the JRT influence ensured there is still the desire to do battle underground? ps not a dig at anyone ,if you pardon the pun. ive never had the oppertunity to work my terriers to ground often enough to know if they would make workers.i used to bang into a few foxes with them but it was usually just a quick bolt.on the rare

thanks for the replies lads

yes but do some terriers get a lot of work under their belt wthout ever having to go say 3-4 hours or more. those terriers would be called workers but does a terrier not have to have a certain amount of long sessions to ground to be called a stayer?
-
a few questions for you lads that do a lot with your terriers what does a terrier have to have done before it can be called a stayer? what i mean is how many foxes has it to work and for how long before it can get this title.also how many hours to ground at a time shows staying ability? 2 hours? 3 hours???? can a terrier have done enough short digs to be called a worker but not necessarily proved to be a stayer.?

THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE YOU CHOOSE WHEN A TERRIER FIRST SEES A PARTICULAR QUARRY IS TO KEEP IT ON A LEASH.I DO HARDLY ANY EARTHWORK BUT ALL MY YOUNGSTERS HAVE SEEN A FOX BY A YEAR OLD.IF YOUR OUT REGULARLY RATTING AND BUSHING IN WINTER ITS INEVITABLE IMHO

New stuff... ..Here's pic of my bitch at 7mth old roughly 9 yr's ago.. as you can see there's none of this mastif xbeaglexfellxrusselxstaffiexwhippet in her..lol. Stop kidding yourself's the breed is well f.ucked up change now before it's too late.. Millet trouble is millet what we had was VERY mixed breeding.much more than even the bull cross stuff out today.id imagine i kept terriers from the generation that produced what millet had.the problems came once they decided to turn it all into a "pure " breed, and that was happening long before the bull outcross. what

im out snorkelling with dolphins today in the same area where i went in the cage.

its quite cheap. my first midnight shark hunt was 130 dollars.thats for a two hour trip.the second trip where we got the tiger cost me 100 dollars. theres no guarantees of getting anything thats why they call it a hunt rather than a shark catching trip. there hasnt been a fatal attack on waikikki beach for 3o years but sharks are everwhere.

the fishing out here is amazing.i didnt catch any sharks as such but helped reel in a 11/12 foot tiger shark last night.also saw a few 4-5 foot grey reef sharks caught. i was in a shark cage yerserday morning with a dozen 10-12 foot galopigous sharks swimming about. photos to follow when i get home.

has anybody done any fishing in hawaii.ive just about sorted out the nightime shark fishing for when i go but i know bugger all about fishing over here never mind abroad,at night with deadly fish

i dont know of any litters planned at this time, there are however quite a lot of pointer crosses up this way but most are youngsters.in a few years time if these dogs make the grade im sure more adverts for this cross will be seen.still that dosent help anyone wanting a pup now. i really dont think this cross is for someone who hasnt had much experience with dogs, getting my bitch broke to sheep and cows nearly led to me having a nervous brakedown and if i had any hair im sure it would have fallen out with the stress. mine are fanatical bushing dogs and suit my needs pretty well but i -
maybe, when these two are past it i might get a greyhound bitch and breed a 3/4

im jealous. glad you lot had a good day. excellent pics as always

they could all be hung for all i care but are they foreign.im sure i read some of them were born in britain, maybe their parents aswell
-
personally if i could only keep one dog id go for a lurcher everytime.mine can bush almost like terriers and very rarely do they come across a rabbit which cant be flushed out.if i didnt have terriers they would do plenty of ratting aswell. ive owned plummers for years and still keep the type, they are good hunters and may suit you fine but a good lurcher is the way to go IMO.

IT WAS MY COUSINS SALUKI THAT GOT NICKED.C**NTS
-
mine are bred as dillon describes and at times are too slow.i think a 3/4 bred would suit most better.
-
NO-ONE CAN SAY WHAT IS THE REAL PLUMMER. THERE ARE TWO CLUBS WHICH CATER FOR THEIR MEMBERS. THEN THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO JUST TRY AND WORK THEIR TERRIERS AND COULDNT GIVE A MONKEYS ABOUT THE CLUBS.

gwp crosses should take fox. they do like working cover and mine catch rabbits in thick cover alongside the terriers. having said that they aint stupid and will watch for rabbits being pushed out by terriers. i can still lamp with them and use them for ferreting etc so i think they are a very versatile cross
