  1. it was this afternoon but cheers mate.id guess it took as long to get there as it did to catch the rats.i wish i had that sort of hunting every week. total was 55.i think there could have been a couple more buried as we moved stuff about.either way i dont think ive ever killed as many rats in such a short time.
  2. i went ratting with a couple of mates and their terriers.the dogs are all litter brothers.it took about an hour to take this lot.
  3. it was wild longslip,we caught a few more rabbits than in the pic but i lost them off the game carriers.it was hard just to keep walking. ill try and answer a few of your questions luke. i like the cross for the ground i run dogs on.they have good feet and stamina as a rule.i like to go ratting and pre ban did a bit with the terriers and the gwp crosses ive seen have done ok at those sports aswell. i had trouble bringing up my bitch but i think she was a one-off,i dont forsee any problems training/stockbreaking these pups and people i know who also have the cross have had no problems
  4. cheers lads, the pups are gwp/greyhound x gwp greyhound. mines the one looking at the camera, the good looking one on the right is Reeds.
  5. HAD A COUPLE OF HOURS OUT ON FRIDAY NIGHT WITH REED ON A BIT OF STEEP LAND.HARD GROUND TO CATCH ON AT TIMES BUT WE TOOK A FEW.MY BITCH WAS KNACKERED AND WAS A BIT STIFF FOR YESTERDAYS RABBITING ON THE MOOR. TODAY WE TOOK THE FOUR MONTH OLD PUPS OUT FOR A QUICK WALK OUT.IT DOSENT HURT TO LET THEM SEE THEIR FUTURE QUARRY,ONE SPECIES ANYWAY
  6. WELLDONE LADS..............IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A GOOD SEASON FOR EVERYBODY.

  8. nice one longslip, hope you left a few for me see you soon mate
  9. for me im always out there trying to hunt something all year round, only the methods change.rats are controlled all-year round and lurchers love ratting. ill have a lurcher pup to get started at the bushing/ratting game and he will be taken out just about every night alongside the terrier.they will catch young and mixied rabbits but thats just the way it is.theres no-way i could stop hunting from now untill august/september................what would i do,watch fecking eastenders omnibus every sunday
  10. i havent got a rabbiting dog never mind a RABBITING dog
  11. dont all ferreting dogs catch their rabbits without fuss and get ready for the next one?
  12. i saw my first munty two weeks ago in county durham whilst travelling to my permission which is a bit further north.it was standing at the side of the road beside a plantation. it was a pleasant suprise before we started lamping.
  13. my dogs are jabbed and kill a rat or two on an almost daily basis.ive never known of a terrier which was jabbed as a pup getting weils but maybe it can happen.
  14. i was warm and dry mate, breathable waterproofs and muckboots
  15. IT WAS WET BUT WORTH IT................THOSE BUNNIES WERE RUNNING WELL.I THINK ONLY ONE SQUATTER WAS TAKEN ALL NIGHT.
  16. ALRIGHT MATE,I HADNT REALIZED WHO YOU WERE YOUR DOG DID WELL THE OTHER NIGHT.SEE YOU SOON.
  17. aspirin is fine in the right dosage, the book molly has mentioned is a good buy for anyone with dogs. ive used arnica and i believe it works, this has reminded me that i need to get some more,i used the last of it when i had toothache last year i also now consider derma-gel an essential first-aid item for dogs and our horse.
  18. i dont think he does as much as he used to.i havent spoken to him for about six months. the last time i went to see him was three years ago.
  19. curtis has two half cross plummer/parkes terriers and another terrier which goes back to bucks stuff. he dosent own any plummers or black ones.all three of his dogs are rough coated and weaton coloured.
  20. id heard good things about them but hadnt seen one on,a mate called round one night to say a pup from a gwp cross litter was available so i took one on.at the time i just planned for it to run alongside terriers out bushing and peg the odd fox(this being pre ban). as things turned out im now invited out onto good rabbiting land most weekends and get to work my bitch regularly day and night.i like this type of lurcher but they wouldnt be for everyone. the best way to describe my bitch is just like a big terrier.infact being brought up with terriers i think she believes she is a terrier.i l
  21. cheers deep dig yeah the black un looks ok
  22. back out this afternoon catching some more rats. the gwp cross is learning all the time and has been alot better lamping rats this week after last weeks daytime ratting session.
  23. the pup is half cross x half cross.i expect it to be faster than my bitch as they usually are when its only greyhound in the mix. ive been getting out with a couple of very good 3/4 gwp crosses.i only opted for another half cross because of the rabbiting i do on fairly rough land.its the same as other crosses...weather you go for 1/2,3/4 or 5/8 is a personal choice. my bitch does go lamping but isnt all that good at it,she lacks the top gear same as some other types of half cross ive watched.this pup should be able to do better i think. they catch alot more than just the odd rabbit ma
  24. not so strange now, theres a few of them being worked around the country. they are easy to hunt with, imagine a gwp but a bit faster.my first one was headstrong but not all of them are. she is very easy going now and just wants to hunt.rats or rabbits it dosent matter..........i like to watch a dog hunt, the gwp can certainly hunt.
