I have stripped and now polished the lot with 1200 grit wet and dry All the new parts sre on route . Its just finding a window in the weather to get it painted. Atb David
  2. i have been struggling for time on this project with work and the kids commitments but tonight i managed to polish my piston head and the piston itself . i could not believe the scoring on the piston sides .the slot had nicks out of all the way down i used a flat file and wet and dry on those i got most out but others were to deep. i polished up the barrel and cylinder with 1200 grit wet and dry as well so it ready for paint , the weather is against me for that this week i have to do it outside we have 70mph to 90mph gusts the next few days then rain . here are a few pics so far for todays eff
  3. Davy you did a brilliant job on the mk4 . Im finding it hard to get all the old finish of the action between the breech jaws and between the trigger housing. There quite a few deep machine and weld marks from the factory. These are holding some old enamel finish. Did you use any machinery or polishing adapters for a drill Or was it just wet and dry and elbow grease to clean yours up.... I was in wikinsons today and home base. I bought a metal primer in grey but not plastikote or hammerite they never had any. The do have the plastikote bbq paint though. Will this dry ok or did you
  4. I have an old webley Falcon to do next its all pitted and rusty They were only made from 1960 to 1970. Im struggling a bit with the meteor now just getting it perfect for paint. I am hoping davy or marksman join the thread and give me some advice so I can finish the project. Atb David

The action has a lot of marks and welds and a few tooling marks im not sure what to do Now .I know some of you guys do restorations and refurbishments I would like any advice or suggestions anyone could give me on how to finish this project off. What to use to stain the stock I have heard of using tea to do it. What to paint the the action with for best results Here are some pics where I have got to.
  6. Hi there. I have started my first ever rifle refurb on a bsa meteor I was given on Sunday Its a mk5 .22 Here are a few pics of condition
  7. My son has the walnut concept super six he uses it for hft. He absolutely loves it I also rate it very highly. Pellet on pellet accurate great build quality lovely trigger light weight you can get 60 shots he refills after 50 shots .with the moderator on it is whisper quite . The mag system is flawless but you can double load . I would highly recommend one to anyone. I forgot to say I have a 14 month old s400f classic i bought brand new the same time i got the concept .the s400 was to heavy for my son at the time so i bought him the concept it is as good in every way as the s400 if n
  8. My sfs stage 2 97kt does not have any pre load or power washers. Just the polished spring ends.davey sent me up a few but im happy at 10.3fpe. My 2 sfs stickers came off I wipe doen my metal work with napier gun cleaner with vp90 the two stickers just peeled off.
  9. As been said sportsguns deliver to your door so no rfd fee. My rfd takes £25 he does not budge on price I have bought over a grand of stuff off him and he still wants £25. He will order you any rifle you want though then charge you what he wants. His £25 fee is to put you off buying else where.
  10. Here is a strip down guide for you http://youtu.be/KGzTlSpheo0
  11. I have been arguing with steve m for months as you can see in the threads. He is a steve pope lover . A 2 year waiting list against tonys 6 week thats his argument. He says he has a pile of evidence against sfs but can't post it as he will get banned. At first he just said well known tuner who does weirhauch rifles. People sent him some pms asking but he would not tell them. He then said they are all just full of grease which thins out causing diesling which in turn makes sfs rifles inconsistent and twangy. I love my sfs stage 2 tuned 97kt it was worth every penny the rifle was bou
  12. My sfs hw97kt was shooting at 11.4 fpe with jsb exacts 8.44gn I was very happy with that. Then I heard Falcon accuracy plus were good I tried those they came out at 860 fps Or 12.04 fpe. I panicked a bit and I was very lucky that that davy on here cut and polished my spring . When I put the 97 back together its doing 10.3 fpe with the jsb exacts and 10.9 with the falcons. I am more than halpy with that I know im safe from the law . If I had not tried the 7.33gn falcons I would be non the wiser which is not an excuse.
  13. Very nice mate. Im looking at getting an hw98 or the new improved 95 Im not sure which yet for hft . I like shooting my springers. Let us know how you get on with the 98
  14. what calibre is it please cheers
  15. I just never got on with it.the trigger unit is crap there is no other way to describe If you did not pull the blade straight back I mean dead straight with the tip of your finger it shot all over the place. The stock was ok did a job but very plain .there are springs and buffers built into the stock . The action could have been finished better the tx200 has stunning bluing the walther is ok nothing special its as if the could not be bothered polishing the steel to a mirror Before bluing it. I have tried 7 types of pellet through it and can't get it to group. 6 of them are 4.52 though an
  16. I will have to give air arms field 4.51 a try in my tx and some accupells as well. The hw97 is not pellet fussy at all . The lgv competition ultra I have given up on that's been put down as a lesdon learned. I don't want the same to happen to the tx200. I really want to like this rifle.
  17. The worst rifle ever a walther lgv competition ultra Over rated pile of crap
  18. I have to agree very nice groups si. And I also love the colour of the stock how did you do it. And what stain did you use as I have seen dome horrible efforts been done to beech stocks. But your looks really good. Do you just oil it now to keep the finish.
  19. I sold one of my 97s and bought a walther lgv competition ultra I have regretted the move ever since. The 97 is a much nicer rifle by a mile.so enjoy your new toy and don't make Same the mistake I did and move it on . They are definitely keepers the 97s
  20. I have bought a tin of AA Field so will do some testing with yhose snd h&n ftt 4.50 I bought a tin of those for the lgv competition ultra. I have fitted the o ring conversion and used millers red rubber grease on the spring and ultimox 226 on the piston and around the o ring I fitted a delrin top hat to get tid of the big standsrd weight. so far its very smooth and very calm to shoot . Im going to chrono it once I have put a few more through it. There are no power washers in the rifle as yet. I will be happy at around 10.5 fpe
  21. I got the scope through royal mail .it was well packaged . I will try another scope To be honest the guy I bought it from could not get on with it He is a good shot but could only manage 1 inch groups at 30 yards And quarter inch or less with his 97 and pro sport. He said its no problem to take it back to live lines where he bought it to be checked Out But it an almost new rifle
  22. The scope im using is brand new I just took it out the box mounted it and zerod it. I will try another scope to make sure though. Is there anything else I could try. Are the lgvs very hold sensitive .
  23. I bought an lgv competition ultra .177 of a local club member the rifle is only just over 3 months old .he got the rfd to shorten the lop by half an inch for that small an adjustment why bother im 6ft2 and its fine for me but thats the only adjustment over standard I tried it today for the first time and im struggling to get any accuracy out of it at all. I also bought a tx200 hc and fitted the vortek o ring conversion. The tx shot ragged one he groups on our 25 yard I door range bench rested. The lgv would hit nearly pellet on pellet for 2 or 3 shots then be an inch high then left then right
