I bought an lgv competition ultra .177 of a local club member the rifle is only just over 3 months old .he got the rfd to shorten the lop by half an inch for that small an adjustment why bother im 6ft2 and its fine for me but tbats the only adjustment over standard I tried it today for the first time and im struggling to get any accuracy out of it at all. Has anyone used or looked through a nikon prostaff or vortex diamond back scope.I was recommended those two on another forum as having outstanding glass and clarity £ for £ some of the best scopes out there better than anything hawke or mtc have to offer. This was in a hunting thread So I'm just looking for any opinions on these scopes with the BDC reticle. Is it like the hawke map6 reticle. Cheers

  7. Cheers for the replys lads. I have lucked out a bit a club member fitted a vmach kit to his 97 after he only had it two weeks and kept all the bits . Im picking up a properly finished spring and seal on Sunday. The piston looks a bit rough would you use wet and dry on it or just autosol The comp tube is all sparkling like new but after degreasing the piston its no where near the same.
  8. I have just seen and missed out on a total bargin on a well known gun selling site With star in the name. An hw95 spectre in .177 mint condition £149 I thought that was cheap for one of these rifles.
  9. hi lads im looking for some advice. i opened up my hw97k to day and im not sure the spring is ment to look the way it did . davey63t cut a coil of for me on my sfs 97kt and it looked shinny smooth and level this spring look terrible. also the piston seal looks black to dark brown i used some degreaser on it to clean it a bit the groove round the front of the seal was full to the top with grease . i have taken some pictures could anyone please advise me on these two issues the third picture is the other end of the spring. someone gave me another standard spring last year along with a spri
  10. i got my first permission in March i was driving buy the farm and seen the farmer hanging out his window talking to someone a road runs through his farm, i asked could i please shoot on his land he said yes , i asked could i come back up with a permission slip and a map he said i could he signed it and marked the boundry on the map, as i was leaving a tractor came in it was one of the farm hands i introduced my self and told him i had permission to shoot as i walked away the farmers son came over he runs the farm , he said what are you doing i said i got permission to shoot he then told me
  11. I would also like to thank davy63t . Davy also took a coil off for me and polished the spring and I can't thank him enough My 97 was doing over 12fpe with Falcon accuracy plus 7.33gn and 11.55 with jsb exacts 8.44 being new to springers I was just at a loss what to do. I posted on here and davy pmd me gave me his number and that was that sorted. The spring arrived this morning and im now just waiting on my grease to arrive from sfs and ill get the rifle back together and chrono it . The man is a true gent and a pleasure to talk to. So thank you davy Cheers

  14. Thanks for the offer mate but Aberdeen is just to far. Im in Greenock about 30 miles from Glasgow. If I cant sort it out im on in july for 2 weeks I might take a drive up . Cheers David
  15. Thanks for the reply lads. I have a totally standard hw97k I might strip that first for practice before I try my pride and joy. Once I get the spring out how do I cut it down .where do I cut .I have read about you must finish of the spring ends and polish them. What does this mean in what way do you finish them. Or do you heat the spring and crush the coil .do I have to relube the spring. Im just a bit worried I ruin tonys work.
  16. hi lads i have a sfs hw97kt .177 i have had it for about 3 months now i bought a chrono not long after a chrono pro digital i have been checking the power levels tony set it at about 11fpe its now crept upto 11.8 to 11.9 with falcon accuracy plus and 11.6 with jsb exacts.i phoned tony and after a chat he said just leave it but after reading some more threads tonight on the 97 im now thinking this is to high and the gun could be even better if i get the power reduced,i use the rifle for hft and i have my first permission as well i have no experience in stripping air rifles and would not w
  17. What a result mate cracking rifle for nothing I wish I had luck like that lol
  18. Sandwell field sports is the best place to get your tune done. Get a stage 2 tune I thinks its £120 They are amazing pices of kit once tuned pellet on pellet and silky smooth. Ask zini on here he has loads of videos on YouTube using his
  19. I have a pro digital chrono .I used it for the first time last week at our shooting club .it would not work indoors but our outdoor range in winter/spring is shot from a converted barn .So I climbed out my booth and set the chrono on a table it was 6 to maybe 8 feet from the muzzle. It worked flawlessly I did a 10 shot string with two rifles one averaged 765fps the other 775fps.In .177.My question is was the chrono to far away from the muzzle.would I have got faster speeds if it was nearer. What is the optimal distance away to test a rifle over a chrono.Cheers
  20. I think your groups are great to be honest I would say you are a good shot. I've been shooting for 6 months and would be very happy with those groups. I shot my sfs stage 2 97kt on Sunday for the first time and had a great time with it. Its only had 100 pellets through it plus what tony shot while testing her. I will take some pics this week of my groups .be kind though im used to shooting a pcp When I concentrated on what I was doing it was pellet on pellet I thought this is easy then I would pull one And ruin a great looking group. I honestly can't wait to know this gun and get us
  21. That is a beautiful looking gun .one of the nicest looking I have seen well done on your choice I hope you enjoy every minute of using it.
  22. I shot the hw97kt sfs stage 2 on Sunday. What an amazing rifle I just loved it when its run in it will be even better Its very accurate at 25 meters I would get pellet on pellet for 4 shots then I would put One wide by an inch .im used to shooting a pcp so I need more practice. For a first time out with it i was very very impressed . I even got a shot of a vmach tx200hc in walnut which was my other choice I must admit It shot beautifully as well but I preferred my 97kt. So thanks for all the advice and point of view in this thread I have definitely made the right choice Cheers Dav
