  1. That's not my 77k I wish it was. The guy mick who told me about rust bluing that's his first attempt just to show What can be achieved. Basically you buy brick and mortar cleaner put some on a tray inside a box put the action hanging above the cleaner and let tbe fumes rust the Metal. Then you boil your action for 20 minutes rub with wire wool and repeat till it stops rusting It takes about 8 goes on average. The blueing is very tough when done hard to scratch. Atb David

  7. What is the best method or products to get rid of pitting on the action of a rifle. Im trying to restore a 1965 webley Falcon for my son as an open sight plinker. I sanded the bluing off with grit wet and dry nearly 4 hours of sanding and the whole Action looks leopard print it feels smooth in places but there are darker grey marks snd a few small holes. I know a few on here have restored rusty pitted rifles. How did you solve the problem. I want to blue it so any advice would be brilliant. Atb David
  8. What a brilliant read mate well done Im stripping down an old webley Falcon from 1965 just now its pitted I just used Wet and dry so far . I will get some birchwood casey rust and bluing remover as it worked a treat for you. The barrel is down to bare metal and feels smooth but there are still darker looking spots all over it Is this the way yours was and I have to sand it more . It looks like leopard print Cheers David

  11. http://m.royalmail.com/mt/www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/Tell-me-about-size-and-weight-formats This is the royal mail special delivery size and weight guidelines. Basically your parcel including packaging can't be longer than 2feet or 61cm 610mm So if you split the stock and action you might get lucky and its another option. If you know anyone with a tnt business account they will carry it also Atb David
  12. It has to be parcel force 48 hour. If it goes by air it gets scanned and quite a few have been sent to northern Ireland For testing and destroyed .. There are plenty of threads on other forums about it. Awexpress couriers carry air guns legally as well. Rmsd if under the size limit according to the website its now 610mm Atb David
  13. Brilliant Andy cheers. 0000 wire wool or 1200 grit wet n dry for rubbing down between coats. Do you degrease with methylated spirits Between coats after rubbing down Atb David
  14. Cheers for that .Do you let each coat of blue dry fully before applying the next coat. Do you rub it down between or after each coat. I think I will give it a try once I have all the info. Cheers David
  15. If its just for garden plinking all he needs is a 4x32 scope or similar. Check out the sales section on this forum and you will pick something up. Or try the bay you will find a few on there. You can buy a brand new nikko sterling one for £25. I hope this helps Cheers David

  17. I forgot to say you can steam out any dents using a damp cloth and an iron. Your pics are not working. You can post them directly onto the forum from your phone or hard drive use the more reply options next to post. Cheers David
  18. Go to the top of this section the very first pinned post Rifle restoration projects there is loads of info in there. Basically just sand off all your old finish then once that's off use gradually finer grades of paper In between sandings wet down the stock as this will lift tbe grain then sand it flat again. Keep doing this till the grain stops lifting by the grain lifting im mean after wetting it will feel rough again. If its a beech stock use a gel stain to get the colour you want. With a gel stain you get an even colour on beech. You just apply a good coating of the stain lea
  19. Richardh on another forum is meant to do some really nice bluing he is £45 for a full action A little more if its pitted. Colin Malloy quoted me last year £60 for a full hw97 reblue. It wasn't pitted or anything So an easier prep and polish for him. If it £60 just for the barrel his prices have shot up. Quality work though. Cheers David
  20. there was an article a while back where someone fired perfectly shaped aa fields and ones that had bent skirts, there was no difference in the group sizes the pellet skirts are so thin and soft he said they reform to the shape of the barrel and rifling, as long as the dome is not damaged they are fine to use. atb david
