  1. I have 8 springers and 1pcp. The pcp got shot once last year I just love boingers pcps sre boaring to me At our club springers are seen as a step backwards.
  2. Once the stain had dried, I left it for a few days to be sure before a light sanding, and the rest is just the normal Tru-oil finish, going slow and being patient to build up the layers with light sanding in between.Finish on this one was using a car cutting polish (Farecla) to get it mirror, or you can go matt or semi matt by using other compounds or superfine scotchbrite...That's why I like tru-oil as it gives you a tough finish with options. This is the products the guy used to get the finish uding the cutting polish was a good idea To smooth every thing out.

  4. My sfs stage 2 tuned 97kt Was running a little hot but davy on here very kindly Cut and refinished my spring for me. I have just kept it shooting at 10.3 fpe I could add a washer or two as there are none in it At the moment. I bought a brand new shop fitted vmavhed hw98 and a full lazaglide hw95 with a 98 barrel and Warren Edwards stock. Out of the 3 the lazaglide is the nicest to shoot then the 97 is a very close second The vmach 98 is last but not that far behind I got it for Christmas its had around 150 pellets through it So it could get better when run In properly. I think a
  5. It could save the op from buying a new stock. The products needed are not to expensive so he could save money and have the pleasure Of doing the work himself. Atb David
  6. The finished tx200 I think looks brilliant and very nicely finished
  7. Next stage he glued the pieces together
  8. Next stage as you can see the oxalic acid has matched the two pieces of beech.
  9. If its a beech stock use a gel stain it gives a very even colour. They are so easy to use just cover the stock in a liberal coating of stainleave for 5 minutes then wipe off the excess stain if you want it darker just repeat. Its so easy. http://www.finishsupply.com/OxalicAcid.html You can use this to bleech your stock and remove any stain or colour or water stains. Here is a stock a guy added a piece to give his tx200 stock more depth without adding a hamster He stripped bleached and stained here are some pictures
  10. lI seen this post on another forum and found it interesting reading. I have a sfs stage 2 tuned 97kt and I love it. This is not a dig at sfs I just thought it would make a good post there were links to pictures in tbe post but I have them listed here separately Yesterday I bought a secondhand HW95 .177 complete with Hawk 3-9x40 HD scope, mounts, RWS sling & swivels. It was sporting the older style stock with the 310mm barrel & HW silencer so a 95k then. It does have the Star barrel breech.I didnt bother to try the rifle in the shop as it was going to end up as a test
  11. Hows the rifle coming along have you started bluing it yet. I can't wait to see the finished rifle . The stock is a cracker Cheers David
  12. I really enjoyed every second of doing mine and was chuffed with it when I finished it last night. I have started an old webley Falcon now from 1965. Im just doing the stock and internals as im not to confident in try to re blue it. You should give it ago mate you will enjoy it. Atb David
  13. A sfs spectre just sold on gunstxr for £149 The guy who bought it collected it today and said its the best tuned rifle he has ever shot. He said if that's what sfs can do everyone should go there or words to thst effect. Atb David
  14. Here are the chrono results I cleaned the barrel and this Was the first 10 shots 10 546 9. 546 8. 497 7. 550 6 547 5. 546 4. 546 3. 548 2 546 1 548 Shot 8 ruined a very very consistent string take that shot out and its a 4fps spread over 9 shots Its doing 9.67fpe with rws superdomes Atb David
  15. Cheers Darryl I was looking at those polishing kits that you use a drill for your power source You get all your mops and rubbing compounds and your final polish as part of the kit Yours was that shinny I thought you might have used one . What bluing method are you going to use. Atb David
  16. It looks great Darryl What did you use to strip the bluing and what did you use to polish the action Atb David
  17. You can get higher there are a few threads with guys getting 10.5 fpe or higher They machined 1.6mm off the piston head and added a couple of washers. Or t r robb sell a ready prepared piston head for tuning the meteor it does away with the Buffer washer and has the head already machined down. If you put yo much spring in the trigger can get hard to use it will not release without a struggle This is info I have read not personal experience Atb David
  18. Thanks davy im very happy with the paint job and the stain I used I can't wait to put it back together and shoot it. Atb David
  19. Hi there bigoy im doing a bsa meteor mk5 restoration just now. Im almost finished with it . I just bought the standard bsa spring and I have replaced the buffer washer Plus the o ring I have de burred everything and polished the piston. I'm hoping for 8.5 to 9 fpe max. That's about all they done from new I was told. Bigger springs can damage the rifle. Here is a link to my restoration http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/307748-bsa-meteor-mk5-restoration/
