  1. Hi the 243 is a good round & under estimated & more than able on our uk deer even in the rut. I had a 243 for years & have seen 1000+ deer through a larder down to this cal. Ok there are estates as said that dont allow them but fool them. Ok i dont have 1 any more as i have a 25/06 & yes it is a very good round basically a 243 on steroids. What are you on about spinal shots for these shots dont kill & only paralize from POI & back & a cockup of a shot & on a red deer & about 1ft out of whare you should of hit it ie high heart low lungs. Go have a look
  2. Hi yeh they are good & i have gold medal bucks & i also has a box set of 10 dvd's that my brother has so could be lost now.
  3. The 243 as said is a great round & yes there is better in ways but what about the 243AI ehh!! now thats a good round but has its down side too but one to consider??.
  4. The human eye cant handle much more than 7x mag that you could notic really. For lowland stuff go with 7x or 8x bin's & x42 should be ample. As said for highland stalking use 10x this is not recomended as you use a spotting scope to really look at your object over the distance & all we worked on the hill was 8x30 bin's for light weight as all we needed them for was to pick out deer etc way out then spotting scope to get a good look. Another thing to remember is the more power the bin's are the more you intensifi any shake by the power you have. If you have 10x you magnifi any shake by

  6. Hi just to let any sea fishers in our area that i was out last night for 3-4 hours at the cod just north of Montrose & caught 5 mackerel so they cant be to far off now for Arbroath etc.
  7. Hi john im sure you know my feeling on this & i am in the process of trying to become an AW myself. IMHO there has been candidates got through the system by being wet eared/nursed & as i have made clear before thats not the way for me as a candidate at this level should have the relevent experience. To me they should have had a few beasts under there belt show knowledge/understanding on the species they stalk. They should know there behaviour & how the deer work through times of year etc.
  8. You would be amazed if you pattern tested the gun with the clear pigeon the gaps you can get at 30yrds. What choke you on as i have had the same before in 1/4 choke but i now just work 1/2 choke all the time but 1/4 choke should be more than able really.
  9. As said you might be lucky with this post but think for these dies you will need to buy new. As for an AOL gauge just keep any cases with split necks & use these to get a seating depth. I do have a stoney point & dont use it as i prefere the split case neck way. You do need to neck size the case etc first but very good method. There's nowt in it as you know & i dont think general shooters like myself would see a diffrence in accuracy over the redding. i agree the only good thing about the wilson is you can take it to the range or in the field with you if you wanted to

  11. Im sure you get a timney trigger kit for your rifle too. As said syss ska rimfiremagic will be able to put you right.
  12. An absalute cracker john i have never seen any like that ever & real trophie to me that one. That would be a great head to do a full mount of well done.
  13. Hi so am i bord & yes i dont know the facts but i cant help but think that you guided you candidate through his DMQ2 which i know you are kind of ment to do. As FD stated in a post i feel that said candidate was wet nursed/guided through but thats MHO. I dident mean this personal to you in any way John all the best. Hunter-zero it would appear that you have been miss led on you position of shot as you basically go half way up the beast & come back behind the shoulder 2"-4". Anchoring is right through both front shoulders 3"-4" the other way to the clavical bone.
  14. Hi im looking for puppy vacine for 1 pup so i will need 2 doses to give 2weeks again. Can anyone get or help me please??.
  15. I do understand the system but it dosent mean its right. I have stalker mates working on deer forests & in our eyes pinning/anchoring deer is not a shot taken with an intention of doing & we frown apon it. Before any stalk i would make it clear that its a shot i dont recomend either right or wrong in the DMQ bible. As for you video's im not on about your one you pinned the deer in as said i like your input to the deer stalking & management section. I commented a we while ago on one of your videos when you had a candidate out & i heard you over the footage say take it take it or
  16. Some good stuff there mark nice to see & i cant wait to see my first kid love seeing them.
  17. Well if you went to a re-brief like I have just been to. We are allowed to tell a candidate while on a dsc2 stalk in as much as show them the boundries and obviously stepping in if a dangerous shot is about to be taken. Also it is accepable to tell a canditate it is safe to shoot when there is any doubt. Me and the system see no problem with this it is impossible for someone to come to me for the first time on such a stalk and even after a brief understand all the boundries backstops and rules of the ground ect. We are in the event of a wounded animal allowed to track the animal with our dog
  18. Here is my 10p worth & with alot of deer to my name i have never pinned intentionaly & is a shot i can not stand or like to see. If i see an anchored/pinned deer i make my view felt to the guest & even high light this before stalking as it is a practice i aint seen in a while. This is MHO on the matter & if i become a DMQ2 AW i will let it knowen i do not wish to see such practice pinning/anchoring its a no,no from me. John Rambo i like your videos & what you put up alot of the time but as a DMQ2 AW & telling to do this i am shocked & the same when you mention taki
  19. Best phone a custom rifle builder etc for advice. If your mod is the sleeve over the barrel type then that will effect the amount you can cut off. I have seen a few remmy's/tikka etc cut down to 20" & they balance very well with that length. Most importiant is the re-crowning after it getting cut & when i re-barrel my remmy it will be 20"-22" long.
  20. Hi i have a fabarm 6-shot & a beretta urika2 & the urika2 fires every thing i have tryed in it with out 1 jam from 28g-50g loads & i love the auto very good for me. I use it at pigeons/rabbits/wildfowling/foxing etc great gun to have in the cabnet.
  21. Hi it all depends on the distance/position of beast let alone cover or how the deer is behaving ie relaxed or aware. I genrally take heart/lung shot but have shot many neck/heads shots with no problems to date & im all to aware of the down sides of it.
  22. We recon it was bigger last year & this buck has been knowen to the keeper for a few years & thought it was time to take him this year.
  23. Hi this is a pic of a roe buck shot the other night by a forgin client on an estate in Angus area & came in a 53lb clean. I have put another head of 140cic next to it to let you compare as the pic's dont do it justice. I hope to get pic's of it cleaned up & again take pic's with it next to the gold head to compare them.
  24. Such a great thing to see the kid's our doe's are at bursting point now but our cover is getting so high we very rarely see kids till there up a bit.
