Yes you can do it that way and you get a very smart looking handle, or my preferred choice, you can drill and glue a whole block of wood, with perhaps a piece of non ferrous metal up against the blade (old copper 2p's are excellent for this) then rasp and sand down into the shaped handle of your choice. Not very difficult at all.

Being bored over Christmas I decided to make a few Knife Blades, and I wondered if there was any call to make a few to sell Hand-forged blade made from high carbon steel with a narrow tang, ready for insertion into your own personally designed handle. I know where your coming from IanB, I set a few traps and snares out on a spot the land owner said was 100% private, I got there to check them at dawn to find a fella walking a German Shepherd helping himself to a few snared rabbits, needless to say after I had a word with him, he came round to my way of thinking.

I know where your coming from leec, it all depends what the aim of your game is, I've been out with a lad who keeps ferrets solely for bolting rabbits for his harris hawks, and the first time I saw his ferrets work I thought that if they were mine I wouldn't be taking them home with me, They went in quick enough, but they came out quicker, and if they were in for a while they would come out to see if my mate was still there, but for his purposes they were perfect, because they didn't go deep, never killed, and if he wanted them out he just shouted, they obviously left rabbits in the warren, bu

  8. Black Thorn makes a good stick, dries like iron, but fairly heavy.
  9. I have 2 golf courses, and they too don't like the gas, I just snare the fences round them and ferret the rest.

  19. A lot of the time a big net will catch what a small net wont. But other times a big net can be a liability.
