  1. Ive had a few rabbits hit this net while ferreting and no bust meshes as of yet. Cant comment on rabbits being left in on a night drop kicking with their feet and having a munch. thats why i like 4z for night work, cheap to replace. I'm tired of mending holes in nets
  2. The .9mm is fine to knit single stranded. I knitted a little stopnet from a .9mm sample spool direct from the manufacturer of the Egels twine. I would second what smithie has said and knit a selvage mesh, i would opt for a single strand from the 1.2 or even the 1.4 as the net hangs very well with the single heavier selvage.
  3. I'd second that mate, i get asked about purse nets all the time, I dont knit purse nets for people any more, not even friends. I dont send people anywhere other than Bill, ive seen his work first hand.
  4. Didnt Z-aim import these same spec scope from china a few years ago?? didnt get very good reviews on the z-aim. so many companies are using cheap scopes and equipment from china and getting their logo's put on. been like that for a long time but now everyone seems to be at it.
  5. Your profile burner wouldnt be much good on ally plate if its and O/A burner i wouldnt of thought.
  6. yes you can but you'll have to make sure you get the correct blade for the material type and thickness, set the correct cutting speed or you'll be pissing in the wind, you'll get a poor cut due to clogged up blades
  7. I doubt the farmer will see anything coming into that pond looking from high into a dark landscape. Get yourself a flask of coffee and get settled in next week once this moons down and see whats going on. Like you say there's still food for them so there must be another reason.
  8. Have you tried staying late through to the early hours without shooting the ponds?? they might be arriving very late.
  9. Set the net to favour the side you expect the most rabbits to come from. Any that come from the other side will be a bonus, if you miss a few from the other side then they'll always be there for next time and another excuse to get back out. ATB.
  10. A good cold snap is needed for sure. still to warm down here. Nice bag of rabbits
  11. The basket in the second photo is the one you bought from me. The other 2 baskets now come in black powder coat.
  12. yes mate, the smallest at the front will take 12 the ones at the back will hold 16. the larger one 24. Not thinking of turning to the dark side are we??
  13. that they do mate. its a great design. makes setting nets out much easier compared to those that have a tendency to jumble the poles up.
  14. Just wait until they're asleep and slip out the door unnoticed.

    Which Net?

Depends how determined you are, traditional nets will take some practise before hand. then a little more. Some people pick it up fairly quickly, but its always easier to have someone show you IMO. they can tell you where your going wrong or what your doing right etc. You'll still need to think about your field-craft using a quickset as with a traditional net.
  16. Thank you mate. you've a PM inbound.
  17. No mate, I peg as i go. I dont want the net picking up crap with it laying on the floor, keeps noise and movement down down to a minimum also.
  18. After suffering with a migraine for most of the afternoon yesterday, I decided to raid the medicine cabinet for my tea. It wasn't long before I was passed out on the couch, waking up around 11 pm. There was no way I'd get back to sleep, so out came the needles with the intention to knit a few purse nets. I managed a few rows on the second net before I lost interest, all the while i was wanting to be out using a net, not knitting one. The problem was the weather, the sun was shining all day with clear blue skies, and no wind. My head kept saying its a bad idea, rabbits out feeding all
  19. That learning curve never stops. I have forgotten how many times in years gone by that I thought 'I have this sussed' only to be made look foolish by the humble bunny. I looked for patterns in feeding, early, late sets etc: Tried to predict when a particular set would be productive, given the weather conditions. Now and again one would be successful and I would think, 'yes I've cracked it' only for it never to work again. TC Rabbits are fly little buggers, i doubt man will ever have the upper hand in this fascinating sport of ours. We cant catch them all, and long may it continue.
