Cormorants and goosanders eat a lot of salmon fry and smolts. Neither belong on our rivers. Cormorants are marine birds and goosanders ate foreign imports. You can get a licence to control them but they only allow you to kill a dozen birds. Some controllers aren't great counters though.

Do you mean German Shepherds? There's a few members on here have worked with them. Member by the name of Downsouth? You found a Mali which was "nice and steady". Their numbers have exploded. They must have found an ecological niche alongside herons. In fact they seem to be thriving more than herons . Similar with collared doves. They were introduced in the fifties and do as least as well as wood pigeons. I quite like their call. Just as nice as woodies.

Yes, I've seen lots in France. I remember one of my kids saying: hey dad, there's a punk mohican bird". I've seen a pair in Scotland some 40 years back. Has anybody seen little egrets on their patch? The odd one started to appear about 20 years back, now they are as common as herons along the Solway coast. I counted a gathering of 18 a few months back.

That's absolutely right. Once people have decided who their man is or what their politics or belief system is ,it takes heaven and earth to shift that position. I think it's called your anchor position. To cut yourself off from your anchor is scary, so people stick with their original beliefs despite the evidence in front of them. Took me until my twenties to shake off the indoctrination that the Catholic church gave me. It's difficult to reinvent your beliefs.

Yes I get that, as you say " let's do them all". They are no better than the Rochdale and Rotherham child rapists. But just as the communities ignored what was happening, along with the social workers and the police, then we are just shrugging our shoulders at the rich powerful both ignoring the law and the laws of decency and child protection.

I'm just surprised how tolerant people are of those Lolita express passengers. Paedophiles are generally accepted as the lowest of the low, at least in the circles we mix in. Some more of the Epstein files ( heavily redacted) have been made public. Bill Gates, Musk, Steve Bannon and Prince Andrew appear. The dates on which Andrew appear on these files coincide with a tax payer funded trip to the states, where he was to speak at some event about cruelty to children. In the early eighties I used to fish on a salmon beat where one of the members was a county court judge. Some kids around 15 or 16 were found poaching at night with a lamp and home made tridents to spear the fish. He encouraged all the members of the beat to attend court to witness the severe sentence he was going to hand out. Big man eh? If you were callled for jury service, how many members on here would find a bloke charged in pursuit of game with a lurcher guilty? Not many if any. Juries are not '12 good men and true'. They come into court with existing beliefs and prejudices. A jury found OJ Simpson not guilty ffs.! It's a flawed system.
