  1. The best spaniels about today are not at all hyperactive. They hunt hard, but are honest and biddable. If anything the modern day spaniel has need bred to be easily trained and many spaniel men complain that modern dogs are too soft.
  2. That's my thoughts as someone who's had more experience with spaniels than lurchers. Why don't we see more of them? Anyone got a greyhound bitch?!
  3. I've seen a few gwp crosses and they'e great for hunting big tracts of land. I like the idea of a spaniel cross... a smaller animal that is a natural hunter and retriever.
  4. There's a few scattered about then. I wonder how they compare to the more common collie and bedlington crosses?
  5. That's good to hear. I often wonder why such lurchers are not more common. If anyone wants a Springer stud for such a cross a good friend has a field trial winner who hunts hard yet is extremely biddable. He's a leggy dog, ideal for a greyhound bitch!
  6. Are you still seeing this bitch out and about Fourtrak? There have been a few interesting threads over the years concerning Gundog x lurchers... has anyone bred one/bought one of late?
  7. It does seem a lot of money!
  8. https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/classifieds/1692446-first-cross-whippet-cocker-spaniel-puppies-melton-mowbray.html
  9. Just seen a litter of these on Pets4Homes. Could make ideal bushers. Is the owner on here perhaps?
  10. I've got a half decent Plummer bitch here that I use for bushing and ratting. She can go a little deaf at times and drop to ground, so I've considered lining her with a cocker dog to get a more biddable busher.
  11. Hi there, I was fortunate enough to shoot a Roe Buck on Sunday evening and I'm looking for other opportunities to gain experience in stalking. If any thl members offer guided stalking in Monmouthshire, Herefordshire or Gloucestershire please let me know. I would also consider opportunities further afield. Cheers.
  12. Agreed!!! ? Still... I would be tempted. Never seen one in the flesh, but I'm yet to see a lurcher that hunts like a spaniel.
  13. It's a lurcher that the spaniel has gone over, so I'd imagine the dogs produced will be small. If your spaniel ever does go over a greyhound please let me know.
  14. Just search under lurchers
  15. Seen a litter on pets4homes, might be ideal bushers for some lads on here.
  16. Cleared some messages, tried to message you but I think your inbox is full.
  17. Looks the double of my bitch, just a red version.
  18. Smart looking dogs. Can I ask how you went about training them to retrieve pheasants when they didn't like feather.
  19. Would love to hear some more information about that one Phil.
  20. Many thanks to Ken for a cracking day out. Cloud is an impressive young bitch, a credit to the work Ken has put in. My sheepdog has a way to go yet... but we will get there eventually!
