  1. Thanks mate, i think it's because they can be so successful that they end up overrunning a waterway. The pond these were shot on is plagued by them, the landowner feeds the ducks on the pond for him and his son to shoot on, so he can do without all the moorhens eating the duck feed.
  2. Yep, only until the 31st of this month then its their season over
  3. Don't shoot tapered bands mate, don't see the point. These are 25mm straights
  4. Went for a walk yesterday to test my new pocket predator catty, can honestly say its the best catty ive had. First two shots and two moorhens in the bag, mate took one off me for his ferrets but heres the first one Neck shot with an m 8 hexnut. Other was a headshot
  5. 11" is way too long mate. I would say 8" as a standard is good. This is why i always use straight bands as it means that people can tailor the bands for there draw length should they need to re-tie them
  6. Well after pissing about trying to bend the frame to get it to capture anything with the way i aim ive realised there's no chance lol. my heads canted way too much. Only thing I can do know is try put it on a band like what a headlight is on and wear it at the side of my head. If that doesn't work I'm gonna have to learn to shoot instinctive again as I can get some good footage this way as my heads straight when shooting
  7. That's the same way I shoot mate. Gonna have a mess around and see how I get on. They are a good bit of kit I think though, I should have looked around better because for an extra £2 I could have picked a pair up with a central camera this would probably be better than mine that's off to the left
  8. Ive took the lenses out these, doing my head in, I suppose you could just put them over your regular ones bud. Think I'm gonna have to modify these so they can sit on the side of my head as they aren't catching anything when placed normally
  9. Don't like to leave in oils, makes them too shiny for me, think it looks tacky
  10. I just rub it in to fetch the grain out then buff. Then just poly spray
  11. No mate these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Full-HD-1080P-Glasses-camera-Hidden-Eyewear-Video-Recorder-5MP-Spy-Camera-/251457945307?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item3a8c0fbedb After looking at some footage of mysl0elf plinking ive realised theres a problem with the camera being on the left hand side. Its missing what im shooting at, gonna have to adjust my stance and hope it works
  12. I rub them with cooking oil then poly coat it
  13. My mate missed the pigeon but only by an inch. The glasses were only cheap from china but im pleased for what i paid for them Close miss: http://youtu.be/l6yPW9CYJss
  14. Had freya out for a walk about with a mate and his new female today. Before long we spotted a hare and had a chase on that, both birds caught up to it but I let mine off a little late and my mates lacked the fitness to keep up and it got away. Then had a chase on a cock pheasant that disappeared into thin air. Carried on walking and by this time the birds were pretty wet from the falling snow. We spotted a group of rooks feeding under a tree the other side of a hedge, crept up and I let mine off, she flew into the group but missed then went up into the tree, the group decided to mob her ad lan
  15. Got the first one left mate. Message me if your interested and we can sort something out
  16. Quality mate. The bands will be fine, doubt you will get handslap and with the cold weather the doubles will be better as ive found single flats to reduce too much speed wise for me when its so cold
  17. No mate after getting her flying ive found her weight is only 1lb 13 so wouldn't take the risk, however she did chase one through a wood but she couldn't get through the heavy cover. If it happens it happens but I'm not bothered about targeting them specifically. Maybe I will try her on them with my mates female next season but for now I'm happy just going for the small stuff
  18. Weather has been crap for me. Not just the odd days of bad weather but rain and winds lasting 2 weeks straight. I'm not too bothered to be honest though, I didn't expect much at all this season, flying a 4 year old bird that hasnt been flown let alone hunted. Things started off rough and at times I almost packed in but comparing now to what she was, she's a 1000x better. No problems anymore, easy flying and she's catching almost every outing. Looking forward to next season when she will be good to go from the off rather than spending months sorting her bad habits out. Gonna try get her followi
  19. It's terrible mate. Finally managed to get out for an hour today, weathers just been ridiculous. Had a few flights but they were hard going and made it too tight for the hawk to do anything. Dropped the ferret in another set, rabbit popped half out the hole and Freya smashed into it from behind. Despite it not being a great flight it was nice to be able to give her some warm meat after the two weeks she's had off. Downside to killing it though is that the belly was moving even though the rabbit was dead, gutted it and she was full of well developed bunnies. So I think that's it over on rabb
