i look on it every other day just to see what idiots post are being put on. nothing else better to do whilst the birds moulting
-
for me i use hobs for falconry as theres no nets to tangle in and they work the same at the end of the day than when they started it. but prefer to use my mates jills when netting up as your not constantly re-setting nets and untangling ferrets

also there seems to be loads of breeding pairs of harris` for sale cant believe how many people are moving house and it seems imprinting harris hawks is the must have this season, countless ads of harris` for imprinting, there just trying to make a quick buck and flog the birds to somebody who doesnt know the problems with a bad imprint and are basically buying just for the cheaper price. if ever laws on breeding raptors were needed in the uk its now, the harris market has hit rock bottom

i wouldnt be too into game hawking i dont think i just havent got the number of gamebirds to sustain a seasons hunting but what were not short on numbers of are crows, so if i was to ever fly one thats what i would be using it for, out of interest what falcon lends itself to that type hunting? but before i ever fly a falcon i want to fly a male gos, a female red and a harris x redtail but as i am i could only ever have one bird at a time. if i was to have two i would definitely use one just on the lamp whilst flying another through the day.

thought about getting one quite a few years down the line but i enjoy my rabbit hawking too much, mate, i would rather put all my efforts into one bird getting him super fit than fly two birds. during the season my male harris is out 7 days a week most weeks with an absolute minimum of 5 days a week and i love the result and watch how his performance improves with each week. im not in a position with land or time to fly a falcon and wouldnt even know where to start theres so many hybrids. for me id like to have a falcon for crow hawking and also the occasional rabbit so mainly for off the fist

i get what you mean now thanks bud. cant believe how amazing some of the falcon flights are compared to a hawk flight. would love to fly one some day but carnt see me ever having the right type of land to ever fly them properly.

so the falcon is pulling at the spine with the talons or beak when they are diving into the prey? causing the prey to be paralyzed and die when they hit the ground. i dont mean when they bind to the prey and fall with it down to the ground then pull at the neck with there tooth, i mean when they hit the prey in midair and it just seems to die as if its been shot then falls to the ground which the falcon then follows then binds to the lifeless prey, sorry if that wast clear

ive been looking threw some videos on youtube of falconers flying various falcons and on almost all of them the falcon stoops onto the prey in midair and hits the head of the animal. they rarely bind to the prey, the birds almost drop as if hit with a shotgun, the falcon then stoops down and lands on its prey. my question is when they hit them is it the force of the hit that kills them or does this just daze them then the force of hitting the ground finishes them off and how do they hit them do they just foot then in midair or actually run into them because that's what it looks like. the bigg

wouldnt use sand but pea gravel is what i use, sand will stick to everything when you clean the aviary
-
let us know how you get on would be nice to see a few pics when youve finished, all the best bud

a flight needs to be out the way of prevaling wind, thats the main decision for me when building an aviary. but i wouldnt see a problem with letting her see the dogs. although in the first few weeks or so hawks can be scared to death of dogs so i would probably board off and introduce her to them steadily

best news you could of asked for there bud. you will be well on your way

That what me and my cousin do split the cost, bait one area spread out two rods each over the area on my main carp lake, on the other we just fish singles and solid bags all year round and get great results. I use green lipped muscle groundbait in the bags with different sized halibut pellets and liquid mollases

That is my main problem i had to get rid of my car, endless problems so decided to get shut but now i am on foot for a while That makes it harder to get a mentor then, doubt anybody will put themselves out to pick you up and drop you off after. so looks like your stuck with the books and dvd's, although if you get the right sources you will be fine. main thing is research a few methods pick one you like then stick to it, don't be combining bits and pieces, it will turn out wrong. And don't be afraid of starting a topic up with a question however simple it may seem, theres loads willing to

takes about 30mins per kg without including drying them out and bagging them up. I don't use a lot of bait though in a session as I only ever do day sessions or overnights so ive never needed to roll 10 kg. im only allowed to do them in the garden mind as it stinks the house out for days. especially when I roll my favourite flavour, halibut

i roll my own saves me a fortune

id say best way to get a mentor is to offer to drive them to the hunting grounds providing the cars big enough you carnt just expect to be trusted and taken out for a season for nowt, a mentor needs to know the lad they are taking out is trustworthy as there gonna know where your hawk is, how the aviary can be get into and even when the house will be empty, it worries me how more often than not the first question people ask especially young men is how much the hawk is worth. and word soon spreads about the lad with the massive eagle at the bottom of the street, it only takes one wrong un to
-
ive heard that aswell but clover honey is the one ive seen to be recognised by alot of falconers as actually working
-
no worries mate just thought id let you know, theres loads on the falconry forum that swearby it think its around a 1/4 of a teaspoon per day for so many days
-
mines not bothered by them just sits and watches them, there was one brave wood pigeon that landed on the top of the aviary, it soon shifted when it felt the hawks talon up its arse lol
-
im sure you will find someone bud theres loads in the game. just make sure its somebody who knows what there on about and not just an overnight know it all hawker

hoods are to keep the bird calm i used one for the first season until we coped the birds beak with him hooded and after that he wont let me anywhere near him with one doesnt matter how many times ive tried. i still manage perfectly without one but i would still rather use one. the bird still goes mad now when i show him one. best thing to do is find a mentor the season doesnt start until september time as the hawks are currently replacing damaged feathers they did through the season. buy a decent book i recommend the lee william harris book aswell. you will need telemetry to track the bird tha
