Excellent read bud, found my self dreaming for a while there of my little Russell's of years gone by when i myself was only a boy.Loved them little dogs ,game as pebbles and loyal as a collie. They worked every thing put in front of them and were still killing rats at thirteen year old when they would be retired to a couple years on the fire side mat.look forward to your next post Lutra Lutra and thanks for sharing atb keith j. -

Wish there were more people in the terrier world with your outlook Treehands, unfortunately there's not and i'm afraid there making a rod for there own backs and every body else's for that matter.I'm no novice to terrier work as ive owned and worked them longer than i can remember,JRT for twenty five years and they all went to ground .But even then i preferred ratting ,i love bushing lamping rabbits, took many a fox on the lamp before the ban. I've worked Plummers now for twelve year and they excel at what they do,far more switched on than my terriers before them.I don't work my dogs to ground a

To be honest bud i couldn't care less what folk on here think of my dogs, they don't no me nor have they seen my dogs work. But folk are entitled to there opinions ,granted most talk from there backsides ,however there are some that know there stuff and it comes across in there post's.I always try and give an honest account of what i do with my dogs ,and some folk may think that's bigging them up ,again that's there opinion.Myself however have a passion for all working dogs whether it be terriers ,lurchers, collies ect,and don't find the need to slag another man's dogs or chosen sport.I'll keep d

Yes CM had this line for over twenty years, good workers to both rat and rabbits, although the polecat ain't to keen for the rats now but great on the rabbits.Don't ferret with dogs i'm not familiar with, only takes one nip of unsteady dog to ruin a good ferret.atb keith j

Couple with the Dogs and Ferrets for you CM,Dogs must be rock steady with the ferrets especially in the heat of a rat hunt when dogs and ferrets are fired up .atb keith j.

Love the collies myself darbo, they no exactly what;s required of them ,move them around with hand signals unlike the terriers lol,atb keith j.
-
Cheers bud, think your right about the westie lol. Had a few stoats in that area now, very few rabbits around this year so finding the stoats hunting the rats more this year than previous.atb keith j

I do CM,now and then i'll ferret rats as i like the calmness and peace ferreting brings, but i rat regular[at least twice a week]and my ferrets wouldn't last long as i only have two gills at the minute.one farm i do the terriers and ferrets work the log pile together,i;ll dig some pics out.My dogs see the ferrets every day so there familiar with each other, atb keith j.

Just run it on normal mix, most of the time just run it on tick over unless holes are deep no need to make the mix rich, atb.

Had a few canny weekends out with the team,no big numbers couple 20 odds and a forty odd.My nephew joined me on these hunts,he's 12 year old and keen as mustard, doing his fare share and getting mucked in,digging ,smoking and lamping.managed to get a few canny shots of the weekend gone.We done to farms one of which the farmer kindly moved a few things around for us,i would like to say rats started fleeing out every where but wasn't the case ,still nailed 23 and the collie nailed a fleeing stoat.A great day overall ,the youngin loved it as did myself.few pics ATB Keith j.
