Before the dogs are used to hunt, they are starved to make them hungry for the prey. Good hunting dogs are "rewarded" by not being violently slain, and they are still often kept chained in stinking "zulos," underground bunkers soiled with feces. and from some sort of animal rights website,so I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

Oh how did we last so long without Poles plowing fields,Pakis driving taxis and Africans offering us aftershave in club toilets. We had British people doing those jobs. needs, you and I share some views, but I think the bigger problem is the rot within our own society. Your welcome mate its an interesting subject........but dont go and spoil it all with books get them boys into a gym.......and if you want to learn then you go with them I will when they're old enough,my oldest's only 5. swimming and karate are on the agenda but ideally they need something every day. I would recommend athletics and gymnastics, kids develop endurance, speed leverage, flexibility and core strength and they also learn, to a degree, to deal with pressure as the competition is fierce! I got the dog very fit,then only took him out during the day for a while,give a few easy catches,then back on lamp a few more easy ones and the problem stopped. that was a couple of years ago,so there is hope

Is the dog being a bit over cautious around sheep a bad thing? I'd rather my dog went nowhere near them,better a bit too cautious than too interested imo.

Thanks for the reply,I need to learn more about exercise for developing bodies,got 4 destructive,big,rough lads to tire out most days and the long walks in the woods aren't cutting it anymore. Could you recommend any decent books.

But as you said yourself the weight doesnt matter,to a normal 7 year old 50% of their bodyweight is a lot. I also would have thought plyometrics would be tougher on the joints,i'm just thinking knees and ankles during jump squats etc

But pretty much all gyms do a lot of pressups etc even plyometrics, as soon as the kids are able don't they? and according to your earlier post you reckon bodyweight training is worse.
