  1. A bit more info would help mate. What condition is the rifle and how's it shooting? Which scope is on it and some info about the bottle??? Cheers
  2. I've just started lamping with my wee Whippet and i have to say...he is taking to it very well. He's only been out a few times and comes in and lies at my feet when the rabbit's gone. All i do is have my scanning red torch turned on and pointing down at my feet so he can see me...give him a subtle whistle and he comes in. The other night however i was out with a mate who's got experienced working dogs. While his dog was on a rabbit my dog pulled and hauled and was yelping. I leaned over to close his mouth and he got off his slip and f....d up the chase. Anyway...after the rabbit had gone my do
  3. You'll definitely get a good MK3 Superten for that kinda dosh. Superb rifle. Regulated with 110 full power shots. I've just bought an S410 and it's great. I can't really compare the 2 until i get the S410 shooting correctly but it's certainly a lighter rifle. The S10's winning so far as it's regged whereas the S410 isn't. Both great rifles and getting parts are cheap and easy and they're well within your budget ;-)
  4. Here mate...you takin the piss??? A know where you stay remember haha ;-)
  5. Ebay's the best place mate. Is it the new style mag?
  6. I'm oot. New permission so gonna take the rifle and give the Whippet a run. He needs some work after getting a gash stitched up and the dew claws off a month ago ;-)
  7. Who says Scotsman are tight arsed c...s??? Well done big yin ;-)
  8. My permissions are golf courses and areas where peolpe regularly take dogs so there's people on them during the day and the rabbits stay below ground but come dusk they're out. Definitely best to get a lamp on these sorts of perms and go after them at night ;-)
  9. Basic reward training helps to reinforce the commands. Try a couple of 20 minute sessions a day doing the basic sit, stay, come just to keep her interested in you. Doing things she enjoys to keep her attention...throwing ball etc. Keep the sessions short as they bored easy and will look for other things. Awe the usual shite ;-)
  10. Sounds as though they're just coming out when you arrive. It could be worth waiting until a few hours after dark and trying them with the lamp...if the ground is open enough for the dog to get a run at them. Try and get between the warrens and rabbits so that you're pushing them out away from the warrens.
  11. Best advice is don't push her too hard at this young stage. She's a pup and often peolpe can expect far too much of a young dog. Just nice and easy with her and she'll come round. Worst thing you can do is lose the rag. Sh'ell just get confused and is likely to do the opposite of what you want ;-)
  12. She's still young and daft mate. Give her time. Reward her when she comes on command...don't if she doesn't. It won't be long before she gets it Forgot to add...if it's a very recent thing she could be coming into her 1st season...if she hasn't already had it...and may wander. My Weimaraner bitch f...ks off at every opportunity when in season and doesn't listen to a thing i say.
  13. It does take it out you mate. I got my 1st ferrets in years this year and my mad Weimaraner managed to get out when i was feeding them and she nailed it. I just heard the squeel and within seconds it was dead. f****n c...t, i could've shot her. Not her fault though...it's just the way she is. It almost brought a tear to my eye as she was only young and had a great wee character. I know how you feel big man
  14. no worries ,, the older dog Jim`s Snipe is colliegrey salukigrey Ern is out of Sinpe the dam was a bullx bitch my pup Meg is salukigrey colliegrey x bullgrey That's some oustanding work there guys. Well done. I'm fairly new to the whole running dog thing and have recently bought a bonnie wee Whippet. How does the dogs cope with such a hard nights work?
  15. Thats handy they will be well handled. And good for you daughter to be involved with the ferrets. They're very well handled and don't bite at all which is great. Any time i put my fingers through the mesh on the cage the big fella runs over for a rub ha. Never ever thought for a minute that ferrets could be so tame. 2 of my dogs play with them, 1 of which is a young partially working Whippet. My 3rd dog (Weimaraner) gets caged when i'm letting them out as she'd just kill them in an instant. She clamps her jaws on everything and kills almost instantly. Tried getting a rabbit from her not
  16. I was gonna suggest a 97k when i saw your heading but now see that you don't fancy 1. I have 1 that i fitted a v-mach to and it's a beast of a rifle. Best springer ever imho. I fired a few through a TX a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it at all. Springers do require time to get used to mind you. Any of the HW's should last a lifetime if well looked after. If you're after a lighter springer have a look at the HW95 and HW98
  17. My younguns are great. They're running around like loonies when i let them out for a run and they're hilarious. They've bolted a couple of rabbits but mostly they just run through the warrens for amusement. My daughter got 2 Guinea Pigs at roughly the same time as i got the kits and she'd lost interest in them preferring to mess about the ferrets ;-)
  18. My GSP bitch had something similar a while back though it didn't go completely bald. She had 2 patches of thinning hair about 3 inches in diameter. It didn't bother her at all and there was no redness or signs of irritation. It's gone now thankfully.
