I'm not a scot it's just easier calling them doos than horseman thief pouters and 98% of the people who keep them for working are Scottish. I like the personality and temperament of the breed and I do try and use them for bringing back other birds but out of Glasgow and Edinburgh there's not really any competition just lost birds and ferals. It must be some sight having a thousand flights and tipplers whizzing around above your head.
I've been letting him work other colour roller hens so he stops being choosy, as long as he flies well and attracts my rollers back I'm happy. I got them 2 doos and a hen and they all fly really well, my old ones must have been stiffies
I've only just got these tbh. I got rid of my others a good while ago but when I was watching young rollers drifting off lost I had to get them back for retrieving them. That black doo flies for miles and has plenty of steam he just needs to stop looking for cream hens now.
How big is the dog your feeding and how much complete are you feeding with a lb of meat?
Whippet X bedlington X Whippet 21 inch 21.5 kilo three handfuls of complete. This thing of mine is 25 ish tts and 26 kilo when I weighed him at the vet and he gets a pound of mince and a mug of complete and he does ok on that, if I give him leftovers or bread I decrease the amount of complete and if he's been out loads I up the amount of complete.
