  1. Yes it was just out of the egg, they are ok now
  2. Well after Trapperman kindly sent me 6 eggs from oxfordshire to Scotland free of charge We had our first go at incubating. Not very successful as only one hatched although 5 of the six were fertile, I broke one when candling and then my incubator thermostat broke! So here is the survivor A friend of a friend has given me a couple of Maran chicks so now she (?)has some company
  3. Try and read lots of books and go out with a few people before you get one, they are a LOT of hardwork. Good luck
  4. Mine fell to bits in under 6 months, also very slippy in the wet.
  5. This guy is from Tillicoultry. http://stores.lulu.com/wildfowling The e-book - Gun Dog Training Made Easy is very good. I followed his methods and am pleased with the results.
  6. Will a free vote in the House of Commons have any affect in Scotland? I thought that it was a Scottish law and had to be overturned by the Scottish parliament. The chances of a Tory government in Scotland are pretty slim to say the least.
  7. I wish I had springers years ago. They are great wee dogs, mine works under hawks, comes beating, ferreting, flushes for the lurchers and catches more than her fair share of rabbits in cover, will never catch in the open. Clever dogs as well, mine will chase rabbits with the lurcher but when out on her own won't touch them when beating. They also have the added bonus of not going to ground. Also easy to train, if you only have to teach one thing then get them to stop on a whistle, very handy.
  8. I've had some experience running hunting days. Believe me it is not an experience I would like to have again Good luck
  9. Hi Kay the first one is a Waxwing the second I think is a Fieldfare. Cracking pics of the Waxwing
  10. Cheers I've been looking for some. Bought some cheap ones from Lidl a couple of years ago and was sceptical about their quality but they have grown well.
  11. You say you have stitched it. Just a warning your vet is not going to be happy that you have done this especially if you have used a needle and cotton
  12. It's not rickets , vet was unsure if it was genetic or diet. As I said legs would return to normal after a rest and would only manifest itself after exercise, if it was rickets they would be permanently bowed. He said if it was diet then it was too much calcium etc, the fact remains though that the pup must have a genetic predisposition for the condition.
  13. No, pup was ok when I bought him but over a few days and after periods of running about etc the wrists would turn in, he would have a rest and they would be ok again until he run about and the same happened. After consultation with my vet (a good dog man) I returned him to the breeder. Sadly when he was around 10 months old he was up for sale again with no mention of the condition
  14. Kizzy/pharoh saluki pup. Meerihunter also had a pup from similar lines with the same problem
  15. Just found this thread - without doubt the best read on THL for a long time :notworthy: PS I'm a contract gardener, any vacancies
  16. At last a bit of sense, I expect my dog to catch in small and big fields, they are not stupid and as Mush said they'll put the speed in if needed.
  17. I wear these for work http://www.engelbert-strauss.co.uk/show/activeSITE.asp?p=%3Cfolder%20id%3D%22CE13A93D-F688-4ABD-9D33-9CA7A634F7AB%22%20%2F%3E%3Cslot%20name%3D%22content%22%3E%3Cco%20id%3D%222601671F-B60A-4B23-80D3-616CBCC9C096%22%20%2F%3E%3C%2Fslot%3E%3Cat%3E%3Cmillieu%3ED7BCB2A2-EB63-4707-A286-C4A75D42EB8D%3C%2Fmillieu%3E%3CArtikelid%3E058F0F5E-3393-41AB-9C44-170E63AD1D9C%3C%2FArtikelid%3E%3Cpage%3E1%3C%2Fpage%3E%3C%2Fat%3E%3CRubrikID%3EC7888ED2-43D6-4414-B7FE-3FC570B969FA%3C%2FRubrikID%3E%3CRubrikName%3ES3%20Boots%3C%2FRubrikName%3E&sid=b1b7085b56b6422f879c9e82cd2f4afe6d8c57dd
  18. I see in your profile you have a 6 month old pup, how did you get on with house training that?
  19. A pup can't control itself until about 12 weeks, but you should have started it's training from 6 weeks, taking it out after a feed when it wakes up etc. Yes you would have had loads of accidents but by now they would have been fewer and fewer. Your pup would have been fine in your garden even without it's first injection. You can't expect it to learn if you are letting her go 'where ever she wants' and if as you say 'what am i supposed to do when im at work just expect it to hold it in.' then I think you have problems ahead. If you are thinking of leaving a pup on it's own while you are
