The wings were pigeon wings . But there are pheasant wings on the shoot . The foxes are clearing up a lot of the walking wounded which is probably a help . I expect most keepers are seeing them now shooting has started. I don’t use trail cams yet . But I don’t say never . This place has lots of deer and badgers , so I’ve always thought that they would feature heavily on any footage . Making a tedious job of looking through the captured images.

I agree with a lot of what you say . I read an interesting article recently by an old timer who like us was not convinced of the value of Thermal / night vision . What he said rang true These new innovations can help someone get on terms with foxes , but should not replace field craft and knowledge of your quarry. Like with a sat nav , you should still be able to read a map . Put it together with listening out for a jay or a magpie or a cock pheasant, knowledge of wind direction, likely routes taken by Charlie . Technology should never replace skill , only enhance it .

I think it’s most likely that the perpetrators were robbing to feed a drug habit. The misery and knock on crime from addiction is the scourge of society. Smack heads don’t have a moral compass, all they do is focus on that next fix .

Fair play mate , you are doing a good job . But if you weren’t as proactive, you would soon find a few moved in . I’m going to keep at them this year and see if it makes a difference in the shoots returns . I have always left them alone from now on because I like my terrier work , but I am sure I will still find some to ground in the forestry when the weather gets colder. I will let you know how I get on , early February when I do my report.

You are joking aren’t you ? They would get a custodial sentence no doubt, but I guarantee it won’t be long enough or conditions harsh enough to pay for what they have done .

61 !!! That’s good going . There is an old saying “ kill a fox and 2 come to the funeral “ there is a lot of truth in the old sayings . All you can hope to do is keep the numbers down , anyone who thinks they don’t have a fox on their shoot is probably mistaken. I’m around all the time and I know I’ve got foxes here . Our paths will cross no doubt . The thing is they aren’t really causing a great deal of harm now , but they can sure be an embarrassment on shoot day , not to mention ruining a drive which guests pay a lot of money for . Just been feeding and went to dump the body , had a look at its teeth and I’d say there was a bit of age to the vixen . It was eating a pigeon. We have got Beech woods here and we have thousands of pigeons on the Beech mast . A lot are dying of sour crop , and Charlie and the Buzzards are clearing them up

It’s the one I’ve been seeing, I’m pretty sure . It was very red with no white tip on the tail and the black tear drops. Time will tell and I’m going to keep having a look around . ? And yes it was a misty old typical bonfire night .?

As the Americans say on their hunting videos “fur down “ or as the English say and I prefer “got the b*****d “ !!! I wish dear THL friends that I could regale you all with a tale of how I outwitted the elusive vulpine with my skill and cunning, or even with the use of my caller with some obscure sound . But the reality is that I drove into a field near the scene of his crime and there it was eating something. I’d spotted it with my thermal and this time it hung around long enough to get set up for a shot . And that was it .

He a bit of a scarlet pimpernel this one . I’ve seen him in the thermal and he has always moved before I can set up for a shot . I’ve even spotted him during the day but alas no gun . I’m out tonight and I’m bailing up with rabbit guts . Let’s see what happens.

A word of warning . Make sure the kids are warm and dry , make sure they have good clothes to keep them that way . My youngest daughter used to be keen until she got soaked and cold . Never been out since .

I’ve got a fox that is driving me nuts , I’ve seen it on several occasions but either not had a gun with me or it’s not stopped long enough to get a shot at it . But the last straw was this Saturday on shoot day . The last drive of the day was going to be a big finally. It’s a large Maize cover that has been stuffed all week. All the drives had gone well and I was not far off the bag so I was planning on blowing the horn early and pulling the beaters back . I want to get my refund first . I don’t want to do anything more to antagonise the guy . When I’ve got my money back , then I’m going to shout it from the rooftops!!!! If you google the copper house Sykes cottages you will see that it’s no longer available, the company has stopped dealing with him , I noticed that other firms who were acting as his agent have pulled the place off their books too .

I agree , but I’d met the guy on arrival and he came across as a difficult guy . I didn’t want to go through all this and thought I was more likely to get a 50% refund through non court negotiation. Then when I went to the online small claims I thought the same thing . Maybe if I’d got legal advice I might have gone for more , but then again I would have had to pay some solicitor.

It’s called the copper house in Gwennap near Falmouth. It was on Sykes cottages. We didn’t want to rock the boat with Sykes because they have been quite helpful, they backed me up as much as they could .

I’ve tried to be fair from the outset. We used his heating oil and electric, his bedding . We enjoyed the holiday in spite of everything that was wrong and below standard. But if you advertise 5 bathrooms and only have one working and all the other issues then you have to at least discuss a refund, and that is something he would not do .

I’ve been taking clients out for years , I’ve had some emotional responses to shooting first or best animals . But nothing like that . I’d have told him to pull himself together in the first instance, then a slap , then if that failed , a full on punch in the face . What a muppet !!!

Tell him to have faith in the court , the judge was as sharp as a tack and dissected the evidence with the wisdom of Solomon. He was able to see that we were entitled to a refund and were trying to be fair and he was just trying to weasel his was out of it . If your son has a genuine case he should win .
