    Was a regular Sunday morning for me n a mate, covered some miles and run some stuff doing that.

    Seen a couple of good dogs run over doing that, I used to hang about with a lad and was out regular with him n Subaru, his dogs looked more like mastiffs than lurchers, it was crazy and f****n scarey at times…. I’m too old for that now and prefer to sneak in and out with minimal fuss.

    Was out with a lad one night, field’s were full of rabbits. He was running a 5/8 bull greyhound bitch , we stopped on 21 rabbits so we could have a bash the following weekend, the bitch could have done 50 + that night. The following weekend we saw next to nothing.. I phoned farmer next day and he said he’d let his nephew on with rimfire … morel of the story.. if the rabbits are there and the dogs fit enough… carry on and fill your freezer.

    Shop around and I’m sure you could pick up old stock ( so to speak). This is one of the reasons I moved over to tubes.

    I tried a few sellers on market place Facebook for green waste compost but got f****d about so opted for soil n horse muck, i will source some to top up the beds come Xmas.

    Did the same with the raised beds, mix of horse manure n soil, then put a membrane over and planted through it.

    You have some nice soil by the looks of it Archie. I had to buy mine in to fill the raised beds.

    I’m very happy with this pup, it’s been emotional ( as they say) at times but everything has started to gel together now. He’s been out with me from day one so his hunting ability is unbelievable, if he knows it’s in a wood then it’s coming out. He hasn’t connected with anything as yet but he ain’t far behind when they break. It’s only a matter of time. He’s made around 27” so with a bit of luck he should stop a thing or two this winter.

    With him being 1/2 Russell was he vocal when hunting/ chasing ?.
