  3. you don't want much then ? What he has said isnt asking the impossible. true, but its the exception rather than the rule IMO
  4. "Hunt open hill and forest all day, finding fox using its nose, so for me nose is very important." That's my idea of a good fox dog - one that's able to work things out for itself. For me a dog must have a good nose. sight hound and scent hounds .............theres a reason for the different names but cross them together and you can have a very good fox dog ....................as seen in andrews fox hunting with lurchers by day..................(before the ban) do you find can you lamp with that type of dog too?
  5. DO NOT GET haix MONTANA, I got a pair, comfy, dry, warm.......... but no grip on wet fields. I rung up the place months later and made out i was interested in buying. they said yeah yeah great boot. I said ' they are apart from you feel like bambi on ice', he then said "well we have had a few complaints about that", i got the HAIX K2and they are a lot better, but shorter, so you need good gaiters
  6. bide your time mate, something wil come alomg from decent lads and not cost the earth.
  7. If you surround a cover with loads of lurchers & guns then yes the rebel packs probably did do "better" as you say than registered packs did before the ban. But as i take it your meaning of "better" is more foxes killed, then hunting was clearly a numbers game to you, I'm afraid to say it but you were clearly in it for all the wrong reasons, I'd even go as far as saying the attitude is similar to that of some of the rifle brigade. To say that they are more committed than folk from a registered pack is f***ing bollocks too, the folk behind the scenes of running a kennels, country, fallen s
  8. shame mate - i had a litter born october, two went to ireland actually . should i hear of anything i'll let you know
  9. they are meant to be some tool, will make all the breeds that have gone before redundant.
  10. have you spent time in UK as well as canada, they are very different places (btw i love canada)
  11. hi baterno, the griffons are slower, but that suits a huntsman that spends half the time waist deep in bogs
  12. i would imagine there are far more accidents involving horses, livestock, cyclists, pet dogs and pedestrians over the course of a year, there's an element of risk to anything. you'd never leave the house if you thought too much about it. by all means do your best to avoid risk but you can never eliminate it when excercising working dogs.
  13. spoke to him last nite GWH and he was looking into the ferry costs etc im sure he will be in touch either way
  14. 5 beagle x spaniels, 4 beagle x russels, 4 grifonn vandeen, 2 line bred border sealyhams, 3 harriers and some black and tan hounds from Ireland, i think they are Kerry beagles. The terrierman has daschund/corgi and a Norfolk x pitbull. i was crying laughing typing that stuff, Mrs thought i'd gone mad lets call it quits for the summer eh

  16. pointy face lurchers are more aerodymanic, like concorde.
  17. take your point but how much ground do you have to hunt, i would expect it be a lot more than we have to go at in the UK, and a lot less congested. never mind about your gps collars or the boys in the the trucks ,they would'nt of got in front of this pack ,on the day ,where they were hunting, which they have hunted over the same ground for 25 years without any problem,SHIT HAPPENS,are you trying to say nothing like this has happened to you ,or any other mounted pack ,old dog old head and a few greys hairs to prove it

  19. Old Dog's season finished yesterday on a high. Great day and his little bobbery pack of crossbreeds has done him proud. The fastest hounds in the West. In seriousness, it's been great year for all and look forward to next season and seeing the new entries. thanks OD from Pembrokeshire contingent
