  1. Lol i was going to suggest american bulldog x alsation as i had a ab that caught one once and my mates alsation caught 3 round his farm. i know where to come for a lining is that a no then Downsouth? I can;t use the alsation?? i'm hurt
  2. Regular beagles should do the job, so long as someone involved is pretty fit and a good runner! I've no interest in getting into the kind of blaming and tribalism back up the thread, and as far as I'm concerned people are entirely free to do things in whatever style they want. Hunt rabbits on foot with a pack of staghounds if that's what floats your boat. But seriously though, personally, if I was hunting on foot (and I mean really hunting cross-country, not just doing that stuff with shotguns and lurchers) in fairly soft, open country, with roads and people in it, I would want to know t
  3. Seen a few that were decent. Hunted moors really well, found and killed fine... I own pure wirehair pointers. But for an out n out vermin muncher, bull cross are in my opinion, top of the tree. Their coat is sometimes too thin though, the ammount of days weve put one to ground, and my bull lurchers have had to sit about in the shittest weather, makes for a sorry sight lol until charlie bolted anyway! have you/would you use your pure wireheads on a greyhound? also do they do a good job of hunting/flushing fox themselves? always liked the look of them i know of 2 wirehead x greys

  5. just jesting mate, you're probably right.
  6. But whats it going to catch the lurcher x pointer i have seen will catch, not saying you'd want to be doing 100 yard+ slips on massive stubbles, but it will catch. I thought we was talking about all round fox dogs which to me means they have to do it all so imo the ability to catch in all situations is the biggest must and again imo that means the dog needs to be at least half greyhound. wrong, we were specifically talking about rough coated lurcher x gundog crosses that are a bit heavy but hunt well and catch the odd one, keep up FFS

  8. yes evertything i have heard about them matches what you say. lurcher x GWP would be good, i know of one, heavy but good nose and tough, hardy type. bull cross X gwp sounds good, not as good as wheaten x GWP though .........................

  10. Friend after couple of beagle x spaniels for pushing foxes out of small bits of cover. Ideally something working, or ready to start next season, Midlands location.
  11. you don't want much then ? What he has said isnt asking the impossible. true, but its the exception rather than the rule IMO Its no exception.... just KEEN dogs, with a good nose, (and some brains) is all i must be mixing in the wrong circles!what cross has been your preference over the years. Good lurcher x good lurcher is what I prefer. I keepered mile after mile of hill ground, empty barren land, that if a keen lurcher wants to catch game, IT HAS TO USE ITS NOSE, otherwise it would see f**k all. My lampers were fecking nuts mate, and far from everyones cup of tea, they

  18. Ands, Old Dog has been linebreeding cross bred hounds for many years - so yes there;s a uniformity about them now. Amazing when you think of all the breeds involved, He's adding more spaniel blood soon so they don't go more than 100 yards from him.
  19. you silly fu--ing man where do you think the rebel packs came from, its because of the quarreling between the hunt thats caused it ,masters shaging the field followers, huntsman shaging the masters ,non of which know what hounds are hunting ,most of the masters don't even know the hounds that's in kennels, thats where the rebel packs came from, the foot pack that this accident has happened to, has been going for over 40 years or even more,in that time there has been two huntsman, one man'd band, collecting fallen stock, skining ,keeping the hounds, arranging the meets, doinging a full time job and ris
