BBC story from today says it was recaptured within the outer compound. Of course the Daily Fail chose not to include that part of the quote, "journalism" at it's finest http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cornwall-42706812 Devon and Cornwall Police said they "were informed by the owner of a clouded leopard that his animal had escaped its inner compound". I think you'll find they're actually top canine athletes bred for the very serious sport of fly ball, £450 is cheap for what is essentially the Ferrari of the dog world!!

Is your claim printed in the national press as the only explanation of how the animal was recaptured by the same paper that approached and got comments from both the council and police? They're obviously aware of his claim and yet have made no effort to debunk it. We can go round in circles on this forever but until more information is offered by the police or council the only explanation of how the animal was recaptured is the farmers claim and I see no reason to disbelieve it.

If the farmer is talking bollocks why haven't the council or police come out to debunk his story? It would be as simple as saying "The animal was recaptured within the outer enclosue" yet neither authrority has come out and said as much. Until that happens I see no reason to disbelieve him.

They don't back up the claim that it was recaptured within the outer enclosure either so why dismiss one story out of hand and accept the other? The only statement we have from the police is "The animal was recaptured" no mention of where or by who. You'd think if it hadn't escaped the outer enclosure the police and council would want to make that clear to calm the public wouldn't you?

So you accept there was an escaped clouded leopard (as stated by both the council and police) you just think the farmer was lying about recapturing it? So is it still on the loose or was it recaptured by someone else? What method did they use to capture it then considering apparently a cage trap is so hard to believe?

Those are wild cats thought this is a captive bred cat that has spent it's life in a cage and is used to humans and relying on them for food, big difference to a totally wild cat that avoids humans at all costs. As far as I can tell it's the police claiming it was caught by the farmer so if you don't believe that's what happened it sounds like you are in fact saying the police are lying...

I don't he did call the paper? There isn't any quotes from the farmer or anything, seems like they got the story from the police so the question remains why do you think the police are lying about the escape and recapture?

Read the article, the police confirmed an escape was reported to them by the owner and that the animal had been recaptured. So unless the police were lying about that it seems pretty clear that a clouded leopard escaped and was subsequently recaptured...

Big difference between an escaped pet that was spotted and recaptured in short order and mythical breeding populations of wild big cats going undetected for years though I just can't see any reason to doubt it, why would the local police lie about there being an escape and subsequent recapture?

The clouded leopard escape seems like it could be legit to me, you've got the council confirming there's a DWA license holder in the area who keeps clouded leopards and the local police confirming that the owner reported an escape and that the animal was recaptured after reports of sheep being attacked, can't see any real reason to doubt it? It is a bit surprising there isn't any pictures of it in the trap but then again I know farmers who don't even own a camera or smartphone so maybe he didn't have the means to take a picture?

If it was such a widespread thing that it makes you need to pinch yourself to see if you're living in a dream land (sound a bit triggered there ) surely there'd be loads of example of this "liberal rage" to choose from not just a single radio show?
