  1. Finished early today so decided to go and ferret a set i've been meaning to do for a while. Down to the one ferret after yesterdays death, so loaded up Chalk, got on my bike and cycled the short distance to the warren. Netted up and sent her in. She worked the warren well and bolted me 4 rabbits, all of which were pursed nicely. Hope the season's going well for you all.
  2. Went out to see the ferrets yesterday and my polecat jill, Nutjob, was in a bad way. So off to the vets who said that without sedating her they wouldn't be able to tell what was up, but her mouth was swollen and it looked like either a tumour or abscess. With her being an old ferret as it is, he said the likelyhood of her making a recovery was slim so the decision was made to put her down. She's caught a lot of rabbits for me over the past few years, and it's left me down to only 1 worker midway through the season. So if anyone's got any jills for sale or that they cou
  3. Been out a few times, the lids have been scratched a fair bit on the inside but no real damage. Collection only Skipton. Wanting £20. Joe
  4. Another great day by the looks of things.
  5. Out today on a few fields i've been given permission in. Didn't hold high hopes when I got there, but soon found a few warrens dotted about and ended up with 8. Joe
  6. Had a few days ferreting last week, here's a few pictures. A day out with the long nets. We did a banking with the long nets and purse nets, saw 7 go in and had 7 out. A couple out of here.. One out of this warren. It has holes both sides of the wall and some inside. We had my mates 'EU X' out with us for his first days ferreting. Started off nice and stead bolting it's first rabbit. All the best lads. Joe
  7. ? wht we say int going to stop people coming to the dales and i like sharing a few pics wether on dales land or not, i dont know if thats what your comment is aimed at but... My point is ,,, on the thread on lurchers ,, you had a dig at the 101 thread I did last year,,, saying it gets unwanted attention to the dales,,,, wich to be honest your quite right about,,, I hold my hands up,,, I have done posts on here for years about the dales,,, and I m partly responsible. However,,,, you are also responsible,,, as is everyone else who does a post about hunting in the dales .... That w
  8. Sorry for the slow reply. It was a great morning, good company and a couple of bunnies. We carried on in the afternoon and had another 4. Hope to see you again some time mate. Joe
  9. Great write up Twatterdale, really felt like I was there. Thanks again to charlie for the great day.
  10. Was out with the ferrets again today. Netted some big warrens for few bunnies, but they all held and I came away with 7, not a bad number for this ground. Joe
  11. They were in the bag as well mate, ferret was in a pillow case.
  12. Feck me you've got good eyesight.
  13. No I didn't have any digs all day mate, and yeah it managed to get to the hole on the first warren.
  14. Went to some new permission on Saturday morning, got told where the rabbits were but all the warrens weren't accessible and looked disused, so decided to head up dale to a usual spot. On the way up there I saw patterdale joel out on some new land, rang him up and ended up going with him. He had yet to catch anything when I got there (what a suprise). We had a walk about, and I caught him 2 before he had to go. I carried on and managed a futher 8 before I called it a day. Joe
  15. If it's windy, all the bagging will bunch up at one end (like below), just try and spread it out. Otherwise they'll be bouncing off. There's a bit more of an art to setting a long net out than some think though, such as the placment stop nets.
  16. Had a great day with Charlie on Saturday on some of his permission in the dales. Think we ended up with about 20. Thanks again buddy. Joe
  17. They going to refund you the money that you spent?
  18. Glad to hear you're keeping active.
  19. A mate and I swapped the open burries of the dales for some woodland ferreting yesterday. We were doing a steep sided banking, which was difficult with all the rain we'd had over the past week. The first warren was a large one, using about 40 nets. My two jills went in and pushed out the 5 rabbits that were in there. We netted another couple of burries around some gorse bushes which both held a rabbit, bringing the bag up to 7. We then decided to have a wander through the wood and over some fields to see if we could bag a few over there, but it was completely devoid of life. We left it there f
  20. I'm not much older than the young lad himself, and yes i've done stupid stuff, but I certainly wasn't an arrogant prick asking a park ranger 'what the f**k do you think you're doing'.
  21. Never said you had to sleep in the garage! Another great weekend lads, hope to see you again soon. Joe.
