  1. Have a look here mate. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/36520-how-too-make-a-cheap-quickset-longnet/
  2. Cheers fellas, up there again tomorow if the weather lets us. Vin - Brimmer was good enough to drop the jill off as he was passing through, although I could have picked it up as it was less that 2 hours away..
  3. Was lucky enough to be given a hob off Brimmer after on of my jills died. Managed to get out yesterday to do a reservoir banking that the rabbits dig into. The keepers previously have had to gas the rabbits here due to their digging, so the numbers certainly need to be kept under control. The snow was a god send, showing me the warrens which were in use. Unfortunately they didn't want to bolt, so it was a day of digging, I think 4 out of the 7 rabbits were dug to. Couple slipped the nets as they kept freezing, but only headed to warrens that are on this weekends agenda. All in all, I was impre
  4. No if somebody beats you to them , i know a poacher who only does a golf course when it hissing down as he get peace I'd better do all my ferreting in September then eh!
  5. They still be there for another day.
  6. Very much doubt it, think they'll have more important things to be on with.
  7. They bred well there this season on the little patch I ferret, didn't have bad numbers.
  8. Good luck when you go with the ferrets.
  9. Could have had 2 or 10 today, as long as I catch something, it's a pleasure to be out with the fert.
  10. Really foggy day today, on some nice high ground. Rabbits applenty up here, catching them's another thing though. Spoke to a decent couple of lads who'd been ferreting on the caravan park nearby and managed a couple. Anyway I stuck to the footpaths and came away with a couple for the freezer. Joe
  11. She's 3-4, only one i've got at the moment after the other'un died. Had an offer but travels an issue, hence the bike.
  12. Cheers fellas, the box fits in the bag quite nicely.
  13. Out again for the afternoon, doing a few small warrens. Started off in a garden someone had asked me to have a look at, found a 4 holer and sent Chalk in who evicted the only inhabitant. A warren around a tree and a few holes along a hedge bagged me 2 more rabbits. Left it there and headed home. The rockery was fairly well dug up. Joe
  14. Doing some more local land this afternoon, just a couple of hours along a little beck that has a few holes dotted along it.. First warren was a dig, a reet b*****d at a foot... Tried a few more 1 holers before I got another bolt. Signs that there are a few more about which is good, decided to leave the rest for another day and headed home. Joe
  15. That was cos they knew me Joel and i'd had ferrets off them in the past.
  16. Majority of baskets won't fit many hazel poles in the pole slot. If you've got a basket with enough room for the poles, I can't see a reason why hazels would be a problem.
  17. Out again today, real busy working at the weekend so i'm fitting in as much ferreting into the week as possible. First warren and it was a while before any action but then 2 at once and we were away. Next warren and a rabbit headed under whilst I walked over. Netted up and sent in Chalk who evicted 2 before surfacing. Tried her a few more times but no more signs of action. Onto the last warren of the day where 3 rabbits found a new home on Joel's game carrier. So ended the day with 7, didn't touch the main bit of this permission, but when I had a look round there weren't many signs of life a
  18. Think Vin's sorted me new, proper gent. Thanks for the offers though.
  19. Cheers lads, got some funny looks cycling home with 4 bunnies swinging round my shoulders..
  20. Tried it a couple of times, bit and skulked, not a keeper.
