At two years old shell only have had perhaps one seasons work....................... not enough for me to determine whether or not to breed from her. It terms of a stud...it al depends on what work you would want the pups to do.... It is rather a vaigue question to be honest
-
superb....................man and hound working well together...should be a good starter next season.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BULL CROSSES TO MATURE
Paul in North Lincs replied to DEERMAN's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i aint an expert just my opinion, but bull crosses dont stop till there eighteen months and working them to hard before this will blow them, cus even from 6 months+ they will have the heart and the prey drive to work hard!! im not preaching its just i have had to learn the hard way ruining good dogs in myyouth and having them dy young!! but as always every dog is different i find the best method is let the dog tell you how mature it is cus mental matureness is very different to physical mature ness and at 10-12 months a bull cross is physically capable of takling all quarry, but is it mentall -
thats a big fecker 27 tts @5.5months................loadsa knuckle left yet...I recon 30" plus

Dont get me wrong........my bitches arnt dragging their fat arses around and are still fit and excercised twice a day........... but nothing like wintertime............when they're in tip - top condition............. even though...still miss my sport this time of year................
-
no need for the dogs to get out of condition just because its the summer time mate ........... .......mmmmmm.......................................so your you dogs are super fit all year round are they??? my dogs are ................... of course they are let me just show a very simple equation In season - dogs ran regulary for longer = fit dogs Out of Season - dog excercised twice a day in tall cover and warm tempertaures = not so fit dogs

Puppy Litters & Rescue Lurchers
Paul in North Lincs replied to cúagusgiorraí's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
this is the nature of the beast.............................................. and what a shame it is. Alot of inexperienced lurcher folk should blame themselves for the fact that the dog dosnt make the grade....also kids get interested then find something else to press their buttons.... unfortunately the only sufferers are the poor dogs. Good lurchers are common......................... outstanding lurchers are very hard to come by................... Idiots do not understand this, and move dogs on as if they were selling used cars.... C***ts -
I dice a couple of apples a week into my dogs food.......................nay bother

A cat 25 yeards from residential area is classed as feral.............. feral cats are vermin. on of mine screwed a bif fluffy black think in the garden on sunday morning.............. dont wory about it.... I dont
-
some land owners require people to hunt all year round as a form of pest control I was sunday......ferrerting and shooting rabbits...unauthodox as it may sound......... if you dont do it...... someone else will gladly.......................and thats how you lose permission

what type of rabbiting dogs do you keep
Paul in North Lincs replied to milliken's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I have a bull grey x coursing grey bitch............. only 24"tts...............does the job for me well. Also have a brindle minshaw bred bitch of 23"tts............... . Very strong in the back, but truthfully I haven't been that impressed with her as a rabbit dog........shes got heart of lion, and I think thats her problem......... shes that mad to catch, she over shoots, and doesnt turn that well. She hasnt seen that much work so hopefully she know the script a bit better next season -
Hadn't heard of that Frank!...Looks like things are turning full circle, lurchers were bred to disguise greyhounds in the middle ages now it looks like bull x's are going to be bred to disguise lurchers...or have they already!!!... Its happeneing over here in Ireland Mike. Bull crosses seems to be the in thing right now and breeding wily nilly, are getting into the rong hands, an accident waitting to happen.. As you say, at one time, the lurcher was bred to blend in, and not noticed, now, its a case of, look what i have.... Totally agree..................theres far too much
-
excessive walking of puppies can have a detrimental effect of the growth and skelletal structure of the dog....... Its a pup................let it be a pup at 14 weeks a bound about the garden and house is enough.........they play sleep and grow at their own pace.....
