    i would get him rock steady with all his training first stock/recall etc i have seen dogs ruined by not having all the basics in place he will be with you for life so why rush him and holding him back will do no harm just take your time make it enjoyable and if he starts to get bored end the session and on a good note if you can try and get some books dvds or info of the net about training lurchers atb with your training

    young un go of what you see and not what you here your 12 year old old see if you can be taken under the wing of a decent dog man and LOOK LISTEN AND LEARN and dont discount any cross because you may of seen 1 bad example and not all bull xs owners or salukis owners are the same try and get as much info books dvds etc and make your own mind up
