  5. thats what i was told the breed was when i purchased him i was able to see the mother of which he came from she was a bluey grey colour and short haired he says she was a greyhound and the father was supposed to be a whippet i really am still a beginner with lamping my own dog but have been lamping for the past couple of seasons with folk i know and they let me have a go with their dogs to see if i liked it and i liked it so thought it was time to make a go of it myself.
  6. Cheers for the info guys and will be training my pup to retrieve the dummy bunny over the next few weeks and also be looking at getting some new permission for next season if he takes to the lamp then i will be over the moon as its my first lurcher in training for it as was too young and clueless to even attempt to train my other lurcher which is greyhoundxdeerhound and now at the age of 16.
  7. Hi all, was wondering if anyone could help as I am wondering when i could train my lurcher on bunnies he is a whippetxgreyhound cross with a broken coat, he is 8 month old now and is keen on the scent of rabbit after i come home from a succesfull nights shooting on the permission i have and would like to start training him on bunnies. I have dried a full skin out and it is now ready to be stuffed for me to train him with any ideas or tips on how to train him a bit better on bunnies than the way i know would be apreciated and taken into mind for the coming season . (LAMPING LURCHER 2.)
  8. cheers bud thanks for the info and apreciate the offer from you to join you next season and i do know people experienced with lurchers yes (LAMPING LURCHER) WAS AT NO FAULT AT ALL it was me not paying attention as to what the pup was doing.
  9. cheers toddo lad i wasnt trying to make him out to be a C**t he has helped me out loads with my pup and have learnt a lot from him over the past when weve gone out and i dont take him out to course i took him on a walk hes too young to be coursing it was an accident.
  10. sounds like a lot of bother over nothing this, why the F*** cant people leave you to do what your doing if your not bothering them W****** they are. Sounds like jealousy that if it was my permission id be keeping a close eye on it because they could of been the ones doing the hares if they knew where they were ATB for your next time out pal
  11. was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on how young you can start running a lurcher pup on rabbits i have a 15 week old greyhound x whippet and he is walking fine on the lead and coming back to me when being put back on the lead and learning commands quick gets taken out for about 2 hours a night for walks at the minute. was out on a walk the other night with my mate (LAMPING LURCHER) it hadnt long since gone dark and walked over a plot of land local to us and we turned the lamp on to have a quick look and his dog was on a chase instantly mine was still on his lead but took off with it stil
  12. ps, i used to go out with my old fella and grandad when i was younger with him
  13. i cant see the argument with deerhound cross greyhound i have a 15yr old who back in his day was excellent at coursing rabbits i retired him around 11yr old as his back legs started to go
