That sounds like crap about him being reluctant because he thinks he will feel pain. If hes holding it up hes feeling pain. Is this vet a greyhound vet? Is that picture of it now or when it was bad? Have you tried a good greyhound chiropractor? Also I would keep putting sudacrem on it. Its great stuff and cant do any harm.

Im glad you said that. A lot of lads think coursing blood for lurchers must be good, but I think exactly the opposite for the reasons you said. A track I would use. I wouldnt go for a marathon dog myself,I would rather go for a sprinter, but thats just personal preferance.

tidy bitch that, whats her feet like?

seen a couple and they weren't that good. Not as quick as the collie lurchers on the day, and not as brave... Good hunters though in woodland and fellsideI'd have to see the parents working first like ! This foxhound X bull grey is suiting my needs at the moment great hunter and plenty of guts ! Never be a lamping dog which doesn't bother me Go for a fell hound or trail hound for a lamping dog! Much leaner than a normal foxhound. When you list the things a hound brings to lurcher lines it amazes me that they are not a popular cross but I must admit I wouldn't want too many knobs getting into

Look at the rest of a dogs body to see if he looks likea running dog.

Never mind mate,we all make mistakes.

I know this topic is about gundogs but what about Malinois? I know theyre similar to Alsations but they look more agile.

Its so when they spew, they can blame it on the Collie.

Whats wanted from the Bull is, gameness, and attitude. There attitude and mind set is to bite things. They like to bite. Thats why they improve catch rates, with great strike. They are also very clever. Not all running dogs are as keen to use there teeth. Apart from some srains of bull have very good bites and strong necks there isnt much else desireable physically from the Bull side, except maybe it can temper the exaggerated muscle of a Greyhound. The magic is to take a bull dogs mind and put it into a running dogs body. You just need a set of legs to transport the Bull to within striking dista

Ive known a few lads have the Alsation cross, and they have all sang there praises but not one of them had a second one. Ive only been out with one. We were in Scotland and out ferreting all day,it was a useful and reliable marker, but at night I noticed he tripped up quite a lot on the turns, and he finished up letting out a bark at a fox I had taken time to call in,which was a bit annoying because he was a mature dog. You can tell it was a while back because we were legally hunting fox with dogs.

Ive had good Labs and Spaniels but never thought of them as worth crossing to a running dog. Ive had spaniels that would grab and hold a charlie and mark, dig and kill rats.
-
try taking them out more than once a fortnight you might be surprisedi thought dogs were only meant to go out once a fortnight...aw shit been doing it wrong. Beardies are a bit mad when young but if you get the right strain and you get them through the mad stage, they can be a very useful dog.

Like as already been said,if it was a good idea they would naturally catch on,but like the Alsation cross that was tried and faded in the 70/80s there will always be a few that want to persevere. Leaving longdogs aside I think the tried and tested are the Collie in Border or Beardie flavour and the various terrier crosses ie Wheaton,Bull,Beddy,Irish, make the best Lurchers. The rest are a joke.

What exactly does that mean, pointing it the right way? Ive heard this before but I dont know what it means.

I Just Couldnt Help Myself, I Just Had To Try It.
jeemes replied to trigger2's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i think you read to much mate, things aint black and white , exertion , like when kids come in from being out side all day and fall straight to sleep, twins ,ones sat on his fat ass on a computer all day the other helping out on the farm from a young age ,would there be a difference. as iv said before your whole body adjusts to what you do when your young , it most be right because when i was young i could never get a girl friend and iv always been none as a wanker to mates Perhaps you should read more, and then you might learn to make a bit more sense when you write. Things are fairly bl -
