  3. reds how did yous take the reds pre ban if you dont mind me asking?? daytime mooching on the edge of exmoor mate, take a few lurchers and a few terriers so sometimes would be one dog 1 red other times 3 dogs would grab it. Depending how they appeared. what fully grown reds one dog ?? not the big lads and not often mate but sometimes they'd get lucky. The deer would hit a high fence or trip on the rough ground. I've always found with any deer that wants there head is down they struggle to continue so you can get some fair sized ones purely out of luck

  6. 15 or so foxes, 30 or so hares, say 50-60 bunnies and around 30-40 deer, varying from roe to red but that would be a combination of lamping, coursing, bushing and just generally mooching about

  11. I carry a set of side cutters for chomping the legs neatly for the butcher
  12. As said I'd be worried about the natural instinct to bay/ be vocal. I'd imagine they'd be handy for foxing around the tors and marking but not so much for lamping
  13. Most lurchermen I've known have uses gates
  14. No it doesn't, didn't even think. Sorry
  15. The thing that's always intrigued me is when a hare claps in a small bit of grass beside a run or gate rather then use the escape
  16. Some dogs will come back better as the break excites them and means you've also rested any other problems they may have. Seen a wee bitch of my mates come back from a break and she came back better

  21. Nobody said you cant take them they are a hard task and take some pulling even the hinds can go on and drag a dog a way, when you say a small stag by what weight do you call a small red stag and how many dogs have you seen on one ? and to be honest i thought this thread was about taking large numbers of hares I've seen a deerhound cross greyhound bitch that was around 26 inches to the shoulder (I never measured her, is an estimation) take red as a regular occurence but she was something special. A small stag is as I've said -120 lbs, I've owned and seen dogs take red by themselves and

  23. -120 lbs, the size of a decent fallow. Surely your able to see that 50-80lbs is over half the weight of these deer
  24. Mine's not a great example because she's young and it's her first season, I just didn't really think about them going so far....on the land I go on if she went that far she'd be crossing roads! we don't really have that problem here and any roads they do cross are minor
  25. Don't know about the rabbit or hares but do know red can be taken with a dog. Not taken the big stags but hinds and small stags
