Rat Catcher Renaissance.StephenWalsh replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control Actually Phil I have to disagree with you there. It's Madras or nothing I am afraid.

I have copied this from a website: Trade Waste Agreements It is an offence not to have a Trade Waste Agreement (an arranged waste collection) if you produce any waste from your business. If you do not have a Trade Waste Agreement then you should make immediate arrangements for the collection or transfer of all your trade waste. These documents should be kept for 2 years as can be requested at any time, this is a legal requirement for your business to show how your waste is being disposed of. Under Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Regulations made under it, failure of a business to p

If anyone could point out the codes for empty bait containers I would be grateful. What a nightmare.

Okay, so I was wrong, again! Killgerm just sent me this: The Environment Agency has confirmed their position regarding public hygiene pest control spent bait and related items. The following information explains this position and the implication this will have on all pest controllers in order to comply with the law. • This position is valid in England and Wales only • A consignment note needs to be generated for all spent bait, items contaminated with spent bait (e.g. bait boxes, PPE, packaging) and empty insecticide bottles etc. • The pest controller needs to register as a lower tier wa

I registered a low tier carrier some months back. I have a nice piece of paper in the files somewhere. That's as much as you have to do I reckon. Could be wrong though...

Rat Catcher Renaissance.StephenWalsh replied to Mr Muddy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control This is just my own rather unnecessary opinion, and from someone who isn't very good at maths!

Rats In A LoftStephenWalsh replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control I have no doubt that you are better at Maths than me ! But that calculation is true providing the rat ONLY EATS ENOUGH to die. Rats need to consume (on average) around 10% of their body weight per day to survive. So a rat weighing in at 1 kilo (just an example to make the maths easy for me) can eat 100g of food, and potentially 100g of rodenticide in a single day. Most SGARs take (on average) 3 days to kill a rat. So rat comes to a bait box with 100g of rodenticide in, and can and will eat the lot. He then moves on to next bait box...

Rats In A LoftStephenWalsh replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control To be honest I have never had the need to try it, if I can't poison for whatever reason then snap traps do the job, and in extremes I have gluey glueness. I'm off to see a new rat job in a cafe tonight, maybe I will take it with me and see how it gets on. I do like some of the more techy bits that are coming to market though. Victor to a multi catch electric mouse gizmo, battery operated, that can kill and store up to 10 mice at a time. Looks handy for a couple of non toxic sites in the food sector that I look after. Only problem is £ per unit, and if one got pinched then that is expensive

Ferret Re-homing thread - Free to good homes ONLYStephenWalsh replied to a topic in Ferrets & Ferreting Hi all. I am looking for a couple of jills and a hob. They will be worked and I'm not keen on biters. Can travel but not more than 50 miles. Let me know if any available. Thanks, Steve

Rats In A LoftStephenWalsh replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control I found one of those in a wall cavity on a contract I got. There was nothing in it. It's still in the stores gathering dust.

Mole Trapping Some QuestionsStephenWalsh replied to James Cooksey's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control Everyone knows to achieve the title of Master Mole Catcher you must learn to levitate a mole out of the ground whilst blindfold and at the same time setting a trapline trap with your foot whilst balancing on the other and clenching a talpex trap between your lips with the trigger pin out. At least that's what the bad boys down at the Guild say. Oh, and on Thursday I set 3 traps in a chaps garden and this morning I had 2 soggy moles out. Hi-ya! Feel the force etc.

Might Be A Silly Question But Here Goes.StephenWalsh replied to Froudy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control What are they feeding on in the local area? Have you looked for burrows? If they are not going in the boxes then you could just be putting them in the wrong places, or there is so much other food around they aren't interested in the boxes. Obviously the rats are there for food and/or harbourage, but if you find either and can change them, the problem will become minimal. Granted you will get immigration and rats can reappear but look for why they are there...

Rats In A LoftStephenWalsh replied to Heyford moles Pest Control's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control I'm pretty sure a dog, even a fairly small one, would make a fairly big lump under the insulation and therefore be quite easy to find.

I can't believe the number of people on this forum who claim to have access to professional only products and tools and yet have absolutely no frakking idea on how to price or charge for work???

Moxy, Guinness has 2 'n's in it...

It is a difficult one, but unless they suddenly have a massive explosion of moles you should make some money out if it. If you are a member of one of the Trade Associations they have sample contracts for this sort of thing, that they will send you on request. But you do have to be a member.

Hello Darren, on that topic if you fancy another visit down my neck of the woods there are still plenty of rabbits where we went last time...

The reason infection is still relatively rare is that this particular bacteria needs a liquid medium to transmit from one organism to another. Hence touching rat urine is very dangerous if you have any abrasions, and water sports in lakes, ponds, canals etc and can also mean infection if you have any open cuts on your body. It is apparently difficult to catch via ingesting it, but not impossible. I believe Andy Holmes who partnered Sit Steve Redgrave died from it, he picked up it whilst rowing. It is a dangerous bacteria, in the water (or other liquid). Interestingly the bacteria cannot su

Wear gloves. Any anti bacterial spray will kill it, but you should wear gloves anyway. You could pick up the infection before you use the spray!

I think the point he is making Mr Deker is your post seems to suggest you would charge for a second visit if the first application of AP didn't work? Or maybe you charge enough that a couple of flasks is covered by the first charge? Personally I guarantee my treatments and don't charge extra if it doesn't work. But of course with a trap I always get my mole...
