    I wouldn't do treats (as in edibles) as the dog should do it because it wants to please you. Praise seems to work best, enthusiasm and a rub of the chest. Also retrieving then something edible may encourage dog to snack on the retrieved item by association. Rabbit skin covered tennis ball defo keeps interest!

    The pest control issue seems to have been missed by a certain ignoramous. How long would it take for lurchers to cull that many hares? Here's a thought too. Before I was into dogs, I was purely a shooter, no more or less. I had no intention of hunting with dogs back then but still opposed the ban in every way I could. Why? Because, united we stand. If we pick and choose which field sports we stand for, we risk losing our own hunting passion.

    If sticking strictly to 15-25 yards, believe it or not, a Crosman Ratcatcher with a half decent scope works a treat and is very accurate. I've killed 100's cleanly around farms with my humble Ratty. Great lil gun You can save up over time for something for longer range shooting as you develop experience at shooting and then hunting.     Was thinking the same, what can you do apart from re-affirm training and praise up good performance (wouldn't do treats though).

    Shouldn't be shitting all the time. How often is it being fed and does it have access to food at other times? I think the answer is routine - chuck it out first thing when you get up and when the pup wakes do the same. Clear up any shit and piss as soon as possible, using good cleaning solutions, removing any scent of the fouling which should help discourage repeating. Don't scold the pup, but grumble like you aren't very happy about it (probably do that anyway lol!) and it will get the message. Pups eat shit as a matter of course - part curiousity, part boredom.
