  1. Naa mate I think the flags a tiny but extra both mine are 1.5 thick mate hope this helps what size is that dog. my whippets 5 1/5 months old, about 17/18 tts and her kneck is about 10 inch if that. dont want a thin one coz she would choke herself on the lead but then if i get one too thick it will look like a neck brace. if he done 1 1/4 inch then i bet that would be fine, bet he doesnt ive pm'd him but no reply. i want to pay him now so i can get it here before i go away on sunday night.
  2. whippets only wee so maybe a 1" would suit or maybe a 1.5". ill get in touch and have a look. thanks
  3. 1" not be too thin? Do they come with the British flag on them?
  4. Rob- what would you Class as a Chav? I know the general look and attitude of some People is disgusting, i may look like a Chav but Am certainly not one. I see where your coming from and sometimes when I walk the gamefairs etc I do feel out of place in my trackies. Ive grown up in towns and also the country and experienced different ways of living. I can change the way I look/ haircut etc but seem to get frowned upon by some people who don't know me. Not everyone who wears trackies is a twat who disrespects the land but agreed a lot are. Also age seems to play a major part in this spor
  5. Heard a lot about these ss collars. Would they be too big for a whippet? Fancy one but they seem to suit bull x's and bigger dogs. I've got a £4 collar on my pup now, great collar for the price. Got it from the greyhound rescue but it's on the last hole and the wide Part of the collar is on the side Of her neck when walking.
  6. Whin- I get what your saying. Not everybody wants a dog that's out 5 nights a week. And it seems to me that if your not out working your dog every night your not welcome on here. You told me at Selkirk that the pup wouldn't ever run again and she did. I'm pretty sure she will run again.Everybody advice is welcomed but you ain't being adaptable. If somebody was our every night then I would agree get rid. I'm not after another dog, don't have the room or the time. Thanks for all the offers on here and via pm. I'm going to stick By the pup and see how it goes. Fresh earth- she's n
  7. Fresh earth, you know how much my dogs are a part of my family. When I was in your house choosing which pup to take I was choosing a pup to stay with me. Through good and bad so to speak. 100% she is staying with me. I'll get her a bloody bike if need be. I'm not caring if she doesn't run again. By interested in Racing/ showing and if she is my ferreting companion then I'll be happy. Im not giving Up on her, when people say 'she will Never run again, she will never catch a rabbit- get rid' that just makes me more determined to prove them wrong. Doesn't matter the outcome. She's staying here
  8. no chance of being pregnant. shes just coming out of season?
  9. i know this should be in the gundog section but this is the most commonly used section on here for dogmen so posting it here. ive got a lab x ive had for about 18months now. cracking dog, superb in the house and never had any issues. moved house just under 3 weeks ago and all was ok. the pup is caged at the minute due to her leg so the lab is always with here(not caged). yesterday the missus made a lasagne and sat it on the worktop for when i finished work along with the dogs dry food in their bowls ready to be mixed when i came home also. she went the shop and was gone about an hour, came
  10. Sure there will be a Few good ones on eBay mr lurches. Maybe splash the cash with the money you made from Selling that mk1
  11. Thl never fails to amaze me. I Can't stop laughing. Same details, same grammar, same location. Funny as feck. The word FINEDER had tickled me I'm pissing Myself
  12. Lab, sure I'm in the army but I still don't like having cold feet. Who does? I hate having cold and wet feet. Anything else i can work with haha
  13. Thanks lads. Hopefully get a bit of beating over the winter and see how she fares. Not after a world beater, none of my dogs will ever be that but I'm sure once I'm out with her and she sees what she's supposed to be doing she should click.
  14. Just wondering if Anybody had heard of lab x collies being Bred specifically as gundogs? I've got a 2 year old from a rescue centre and been doing a bit of research I can Only find the information on Wikipedia. A friend of of My dads has seen this dog and reckons she has had some training as a Gundog prior to be getting her. He thinks they may have added collie into the mix to Add brains but is only a beater himself so doesn't know. My dogs mad for it, all she lives for is retrieving ad having never had a lab before I think her instinct is phenomenal. I've yet to try her at live game
  15. Hi there. Does anybody know or have contact with anyone from the shoot near Broxburn? I'm interested in a bit of beating and giving the lab x a go at picking up. I've previous experience with gamekeeping and just after getting back out. Don't want to pinpoint location for obvious reasons. Pm if you need. Thanks
  16. hiya guys. it really hit me this morning how cold it is starting to get now. the roads slippy, the car need defrosting and ive got to wear my slippers on the laminate floor in the morning! over the summer i just had the ferrets in their hutch with a wee blanket and on my way to work i felt a bit guilty on them. sure they would turn themselves into a mass of ferrets under the blanket but im thinking of giving them an extra few seeing as its getting frosty. what do you do for bedding in the colder months? second thing is their waterbottles. im paranoid of them freeziing over, ive always
  17. good to see your back mate. hows it going?
  18. ferrets were fine in the end. missus just let them get on with it and they soon settled down. pup wasnt bothered by it and the lab didnt move a muscle all night until next door put their bin out and she went mad haha psycho
  19. so what is the immediate action if the dog was to fit? get some glucose into it, just water or neither?
  20. Skycat, you have given me Sound advice and I Hope with a bit of care and attention she will come right. I spoke to the wife last night about what we hope the outcome is and we were both agreed. All I wanted was a ferreting companion and I'm sure she will be able to do that. Not after and never was after a lamping dog just something by my side when out. I've spoke to a few people and they all agree that there is a good chance of her doing what I want her to do. Mistakes have been made and I'm much too used to the larger dogs that I have kept all my life and didn't realise that a new appr
  21. Strong stuff. You've got the wrong end of the stick mate. I'm not talking abouts pup, I'm keeping her. Just asking the question what would you do.
  22. Following on from my post about my pup breaking both her back legs I had an interesting talk with a mate of mine. Just thought it would be good to get some of your opinions. For the record my pups staying with me and this is no reference to her whatsoever. If you was to get a pup that was injured and no longer had a future running/ doing the job you wanted and you was to regime it to a pet home- what stage would you rehome it at? This got me thinking. If you had a pup that needed treatment such as casts/ operations would you rehome it before the treatment or after it was complete
  23. decision was made the day i got the pup mate. shes staying put
  24. Cheers rake. It's a real setback when this happens when I was looking forward to getting her out in another 3-4 weeks. Had her back with the ferrets and the stress of carrying her about was put to the back of my mind. Maybe I'm Guilty of over doing it too soon but then if that was the case then it would have been her left leg that would have gave in surely? Everybody is entitled to their opinion but like rake has said she was always going to be a pet and ferreting dog second. If she was to be an out and out running dog at it 5 times a week then maybe she would have to be rehomed but that's no
