my pup at 6 months -
Finally after the post being up A while there is some debate. Thanks for the help there. I will say that having little experience with gundogs apart from watching them on beat days that they are a joy to watch work. And this lab I have got here, part trained would fit her chunky arse through a seive if she was bringing something back to you. P.s as I was writing this on my phone out with the dog, she just got stuck in a fence! Maybe she won't fit through everything haha. Thanks lads

Deerman- don't get wrong, the para's a bloody good and every one of them is proud to be in The regiment unlike some others. Im mortar platoon and in afghan in December last year we had all red tape on what we could do. We had our hands tied so to speak. Out on the ground and a compound was nailing us, maybe about 5 pax with various weapons, called in our own mortar support who got denied to help us out due to the fact that a week earlier my mortar had hit a compound containing civvies. So the big wigs were taking it extremely cautious. Willing to lose one of us than a civvy it seems! The -
Where did you get that from? I think your missing the point. It's not that you Can get one cheaper/ better quality elswhere. It's that thought, time and effort has been put into the collar and not just flung on a machine. Handmade collars are one off's. Even if the collar is the same, There will always be differences somewhere when it's made by hand. That's what it's all about.

£40 plus £5 postage for 2" whippet collar. Spoke to him the other day. Thinking about getting one myself. Look the business for leather.

I've got a lab x here mate. Trained to A certain standard and she will go through any cover 100%. I've never worked with springers/ cockers or even labs so I don't know what's good and bad. My lab x is tireless, I Can't tire her out. Must be the bit of collie. A good fried if mine has just bought a lab x cocker/springer (not sure which one) from a working farm 8wks old. He's keeping it as a pet but this to me sounds like a good cross. They bred them intentionally for themselves and sold the rest on. So if cockers/ springers are better at the job, why would you want a lab?
-
So what's te advantages of having a springer/ cocker over a Labrador? Who does the job best in your opinion?
-
Not sure if labradoodle is a kc breed. Dan- I've got pictures here but I'm using my phone and can't post them ATM. Nothing special, just looks like a lab with a White chest patch mate
-
Easy mate. Aslong as the paperwork Is wrote up you can get away with anything! Isn't a labradoodle a recognised kc breed now? Yeah I'm happy with her, looked up borador on google and she doesnt look like one of them really. More lab than anything else, lab coat, all black with a small White patch on her chest and a slightly pointier nose. Just like you described some labs of nowadays. Maybe she is a 3/4 cross haha suppose I will never know her exact makeup, theres lab in there and some collie for sure.............. Possibly a bit of bull (laugh):...................... You Would know
-
Ok son off a sham ffs calm down and take your tablets. I was only Commenting on how boring the write up in that link was! Didn't know of licensing and if I had to get a license then I'd rather not! What a load of shite! Politicians making decisions to screw us out of More money.
-
Maybe should of left it at that. You enjoy paying your license then. I'll no be paying one. Make sure you count te spiders in your house for an accurate bill. Who the fcuk is going to read the whole of that? Hon. Smith Said....... Councillor jones said........ Then councillor jones laughed at councillor Evans and said........ Who replied......... Which got a laugh from councillor Craig. Etc. Bit of an Over exaggeration but nobody gives a sh't. Only care about the outcome. We pay enough in taxes to compensate a dog license.
-
What a load of shite. Started reading that and got bored about 3 lines in. Wouldn't pay for a dog license, what a joke. Just another way to get money out of us. Next it will be ferret license, cat, hamster and then they'll want a license for the spiders in your house!
-
Full pedigree I swear! Got her from a rescue centre about 18 months ago mate. Cracking dog, mad for retrieving etc. Easy to train, goes through bushes like a fecking steam train and has an addiction to water- which is a pain in the arse when you take her for a quick 10 min run and she ends up snorkelling for bloody stones! Honestly I personally (without much experience of gundogs) think this would be a good mix, brains of a collie with the retrieve/ nose of a lab? Would it not? She's a good dog anyway mate. Happy with her and shes been out a few times with me pigeon shooting and

Danw- not sure if somebody would breed that on purpose, apparently they're called 'boradors' haha. I've got one here. Full pedigree borador. Looks like one of them labs you was describing. I got grief in a gundog show for entering her into the 'any other working breed' class. Some woman said-' that's unfair, entering a lab into the wrong class, the labs were ages ago!!!!' What a tw@t. She had gundogs. Would of thought she have known better with the big White patch on her chest! Duh (headbang):

the finished collar for the lads who comented
B.P.R replied to the big chief's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
You try making a collar and see how much you would sell one for. -
Unless it is a lab x collie?
-
Thanks Higgins. No dramas rake, I'll make you a neck brace for the him. See how the wee shite chews that! Lol Don't know if I've got the patience tbh. Looked at A few videos on sheath making last night and I doubt i could make one. Easier to buy a decent one than make a sub standard one

My whippet would choke herself with a 1" collar. You got any pics mate of the 1" collar on the dog? Just for ideas? I'd imagine it would be far too thin. Can't get a collar off SS mate. U not seen the last post about collars?
-
Are you going to put a slide or loop for the rest of the buckle part of the collar to Tuck into?
-
£20 seems fair mate
