  1. All my ferrets are soft as shite with me and the baby. They don't particularly like the missus and I think it's because she's terrified of them. She holds them and she's shaking yet anybody else that's confident is fine. They must be able to sense it. I had a big hob that latched onto my mate but wouldnt bite me. Went away for a few days and the daft mother in law let it out and it bit the baby! So that had to go straight away with the deal being I could get kits and get them trained with everybody so the missus could handle them confidently. From day one I had these with the baby, even in hi
  2. Good on you mate. I'd give it a go, got a big heart although the missus would have them in the bed with us haha
  3. Fair play to you. Im like a dog with a bone when I get an idea in my head. Can't wait for anything haha
  4. collecting wood? you planning on building a hutch out of twigs and lollipop sticks you have 'collected'?
  5. fair point but i just wanted to share a couple of pics of something im extremely proud to be a part of
  6. havent got any recent ones. been away working. heres a few took from when she was 10weeks until the most recent which is about 4 weeks ago (16weeks old) sure they all qualify for headshots
  7. has anybody got any funny pictures of their kids? just thought it would be good to get a topic up as a chance for people to 'show off' their wee ones who play such a big and important part in our lives. my son is 20 months old now and has grown so fast. im proud to be his father and to have taught him everything he has learnt so far. he loves the dogs, ferrets and being outside which is lucky. hers a couple of pics of him few funny ones and a few others.
  8. all we use is polish, plenty of it. go for kiwi black boot polish and layer it on thick and leave it to soak in. if you want them shiny then use an off brush and they come up nicely. when we go on exercise or tours to places like the falklands (and when walking the dog etc) i just put a thick layer on and leave it. dont brush it off. works a treat and mine go through some shitty places and seen some graft and always come up nicely and are comfy as feck. boots on the left are lowa mountain and boots on the right are altberg peacekeepers. good luck with the boots but you wont go wrong wi
  9. she broke it when i was on holiday and she was at the mother in laws. she was playing with my lab x and jumped throught the fence around the decking and her leg didnt quite follow her.
  10. Lowa mountain. Don't get the goretex ones. Had mine 3 years and done 2 tours plus others like Kenya, Falklands etc. Or for price you can get bates falcons for £ an they're te damage. Good luck
  11. I've had my lowa mountain boots for 3 years now. They've done 2 tours of afghan, 2 of the Falklands, Kenya, Canada and get worn everyday. Word amongst the army lads is the goretex lining is the problem in the soft leather under the laces. Mine ain't goretex and I've had no problems whatsoever. Try the non goretex ones. Mine get some Stick and theyre holding out fine. Also have a cupboard full of different boots and best 3 are lowa, altberg and adidas gsg9. I'll put a pic up later.
  12. lowa mountain. seen two tours of afghan, the falklands, kenya and god knows where else and they still comfy as feck
  13. thanks for the comments. i would never have left the pup with a broken leg. doesnt matter how much the vets bill is aslong as the pup is in good health no i dont have access to a slatmill/treadmill mate. chris, your pups look like they are getting on fine. looking nice. iim feeding the pup harringtons (sensitive stomach or something) mixed with mince twice a day. its either chicken, turkey or rabbit mince and she loves it. she also gets any veg that we have made for our tea. she eats like a horse. gonna take it slow like ive said and slowly build it up. cant wait to get back home
  14. Brilliant advice. I will take things slow and steady to start. Just glad I've got the go ahead to get her out of her cage.
  15. Vet said he's really happy at the way it's healed. Given the all clear to start giving her a bit more freedom and to build it up over 4 weeks or so. Does anybody have any ideas of things I can do to build her up. Right now she's like bambi so letting her off just now would be dangerous with her leg. I was thinking slow steady walks on the lead building up to walking her off lead on her own so she doesn't jump About with the other dog. Any ideas appreciated. Cheers

You will soon feel yourself getting fitter. Stay off the take aways and beer and you'll Be fine
  17. Joe, it's outside in the gardening Bit. Near all the compost and fence posts etc. As for ferrets chewing wire being due to them being wild polecat x's? Doubt that's true. Probably another selling point, it chews wire so it must be a wild polecat.............
  18. thats superb mate and really smart. i bet its a f****r to clean, all those levels and tunnels etc. very good though and they look well happy
  19. something like this? well aye, something like that in an ideal world where money was no problem then i would have a shed with a fair size run on it for them but im 21 and skint some good runs there and definitley lots of ideas for somebody if they was gonna give building one a go
  20. shes missed a lot of time that she would be running about because of her leg. shes definitley grown in the past couple of weeks. shes like a ping pong ball at the minute with 6 weeks of stored energy, soon be able to let her go SPRING LOADED
  21. i dread the day i have to let mine go. sad sad day
  22. sound that mate i made mine myself.......only joking. i got it off a guy who i know whos a joiner. its pretty sturdy and wont be falling apart anytime soon. i suppose the size/ type of hutch you have depends on the space you have got. i guess a chicken coup would be the best housing or something similar but i dont have the room and im moving house soon and dont have the room at the new place either. infact the missus wants rid of the ferrets from the new house- NO CHANCE
  23. just thought id put a thread up for people to to share their pictures of their hutches and runs. doesnt matter if its been homemade or bought. i find it interesting the amount of variation in 'enclosures' and the different takes on what a run/ hutch should be. ive seen some pics on here of converted aivarys in a garage with a hole in the wall to the run outside, a couple of hutches joined together by a wooden tunnel and i also seen a pic a while back of a hutch in a shed with a long pipe down to an outside run at the other end of the garden. heres my hutch, its pretty boring but does the j
