in 2001 a friend had a handy rough and ready westie worked in the beaters line killed rats ,flushed foxes from cover owner asked me to try it , dug to it 3 times , it was on educated for the 3rd it never went to ground again but it would mark earths well , from a distance

i cant take credit for the photos Sean Frain first posted them to advertise his new book , Neil you shouldn't be to bothered about little quotes or misquotes, these northern boys had a very quick dry humor, i've meet a few over the years and your never sure if they are imparting some knowledge to you or taking the piss .....as far as i'm concerned both men kept and breed the very best there was at their time i will always think highly of them because without their input i would not of owned bred and worked and had so many years of fun with terriers

once had 2 pups get to ground and work at 5 months, many a pup will start at 6-7 months I've had a few accidents over the years and its far to young, , 10-12 months still to young i think but i have dug to them in easy places at that age and then held them back a few more months , when a young terrier starts and all that breeding shines throw and the pup works like a veteran people often forget there still pups , many start well at 12 months and walk off by 18 months and any terrier under 18 months is still a pup IMO the human in this partnership is supposed to be the intelligent one, and kno
