  1. keep taking the dog out as much as possible, they aint stupid he will soon get the idea that its easier to chase and catch the one in the beam rather than chasing ones in the dark. it boils down to time and effort on your part. you should be able to break him of that habbit.
  2. i wouldnt own a bull X they just dont seem to have what i need in a dog.
  3. thank you skycat. he is a malamute/greyhound X lurcher. taken them out young does seem to give you a mature dog early on a old head on young shoulders is what i like to aim for.
  4. this is the second dog i have entered from a pup myself but its the 3rd dog i have owned that has been entered this way. i thought it was a crazy idea when showed the method but it seems to work well and i will always train my dogs the same way.   7. i decide to take the pup out for a couple of hours on his own last night just to see how hes coming along as a single handed dog, most of his work lately has been doubled up just to learn the ropes. it was a still clear night with a light due on the ground so i wasnt expecting to see a great deal, he had a few runs and worked the lamp very well. hes just over 5months and a week old stands at 23.5tts i couldnt be any happier with him at the moement roll on winter retrieved them all to hand 3 alive and one just about alive.

  13. i enjoy a good night out on the rabbits imo rabbits provide some good sport. edited to say. having a good fallow buck turn on the dog makes for some interesting sport aswell.
  14. not excactly sure when it started but i know lads that have been doing it around here for the best part of 40yrs. i know when i was a young lad my father used a motorbike bike battery and a lr6 spot lamp off a car. you could always tell lampers of old because there cloths were often burnt by the acid that leaked out the batteries. these are three popular lamps that i can remember when i was a boy and ones i have used myself LR6 LR9 LR14. all used with a motorbike battery in a wooden box with car seatbelt for a carry strap, and a match broken off in the breather on the battery to

  18. just got back in from a quick session with the lamp my pup and old dog had 13 rabbits in total 12 to the big dog and 1 to my pup who is just under 5 months old and is coming on very well. i noticed on the last outing that the pup had started to make a put at the rabbits that were turning back to him and were within striking distance. early on in the walk tonite he showed great promise and was running well with my my old dog. the 12th caught rabbit of the night managed to avoid the clutches of the old dog by turning and going through a bunch of nettles only to appear out the otherside righ

  20. i run doubled up and single handed. ive seen dogs that look very impressive when run doubled up but there single handed acheivments are not as good.
