Thanks for everyones replies,I have had a chat with a chap on the BDS stand at the Westcountry Game fair,and he confirmed that it is not a legal requirement to do the dsc1.But,I did agree with him and yourself Foxhunter,that it would be a good idea (safety wise and overall knowledge wise)to take the dsc1. I suppose I was loathe to cowtow to the police and their bully boy tactics,you know.....a slow erosion of our rights,and all that. I do however take my shooting very seriously,and will take the dsc1,probably in September at Cirencester.Thanks again all of you.

Believe it or not,I saw a bumble bee on xmas morning.I also saw a wasp(queen-over wintering)Thursday.There was a large tree blown over on my new permission,and it was rotten as a meddler,and under some loose bark was a very drowsy queen wasp,obviously she wasn't quite ready for her early awakening.When I can work out how to gain access to my photo's(I've got a new camera,and I can't seem to be able get them on photobucket for some reason)I will put some photo's up.

Nice one mate,how many do you take per year? I reccied my new permission yesterday,and saw 5 roe deer(does)and loads of tracks everywhere.I really do want to get myself in a position to be able to take a few of them.Someone said that they have deer on their fac without having taken the dsc1,do you know if it is law to have to take the dsc1 before being able to shoot deer.

I reckon they both look great,and if someone wants a ratting/bushing dog they would be fine,as most dogs will take to this given the right encouragement.Good luck,and I hope you find GOOD homes for them. p.s. It doesn't mean that they wouldn't take to earth work as well,they may just be naturals.
