  1. You'll be fine mate........you don't need to train a ferret,it will learn itself. As said earlier as soon as it gets at one rabbit there will be no holding him.I would also rather start with a young one that you can handle well,so you know they won't worry about you picking them up,and that means you shouldn't get a skulker.Although in my experience skulking is usually a passing phase.Hope you get sorted and have a good time on the golf course(seems you fell on your feet there.
  2. Glad to hear you got her sorted out mate..........nice one! I'm not too keen on the leave it and see clan.
  3. Does that mean that electro and joeb are one and the same or are you saying that joeb was having a laugh at this blokes expense? I suppose the question I'm asking is does this Fecking Muppet electro really exist.....vet worrying if he does.
  4. I've never had a deep hooked pike caught at night.........heres some photo's of day/night caught pike and a 5lb 11oz chub caught at night, all on half mackerel. Just the job!
  5. Feck me! that is some harsh terain there mate...........should be very interesting though!
  6. I've read the topic from front to back, and,Woodga never mentioned your name once!
  7. I think that as long as you take your time picking one, and, you don't expect too much too soon then you should do alright.Do you have any experience of training dogs especially lurcher types,if not please do your homework because the dog deserves it.After all as someone said the last thing the dog needs is to end up back in a rehoming centre.Maybe if you have a friend with a lurcher it would pay to let yours watch them run a few, just so it knows what is expected........Good luck anyway!
  8. They don't exist anymore mate!
  9. That's some lovely looking countryside you have there!
  10. It's doubly good when you get one that you have been after for some time........well done mate!
  11. Well done lads......nice clean rabbits as well!
  12. For the first week or so of my last JRT's life with me I was laying a timber floor so I was hammering all day long, and she used to come within a few inches of the nails as I was hitting them.I think what this did was to desensitize her to bangs as she never ever flinched while out with the shotgun. By the way I'm not telling you that you have to lay a new floor.................what I am saying is that JRT's are probably less likely to worry about the shotgun if there is game about, because they have tunnel vision and total concentration when on game of any sort.
  13. Don't know anything about them, but heard they are very keen.
  14. Hi Rabiteer,I am in the same position as you are,as I am picking up a pup in a few weeks.I have just been in 'Jollye's' pet shop(one of these warehouse type places similar to 'Pet City') and they had big packs of mixed BARF(veg and raw meat mixed, they also had minced green tripe, minced chicken, minced beef and diced beef, and all of these were reasonable price(I thought)£2.79 for a big bag.All you would need to do is mix the veg/fruit in. I am a bit lucky as I have a friend that is a butcher so I will be calling in some favours.
  15. Well done Elma, saves any more worry doesn't it.She looks fine now.
  16. I totally agree with the last post,If a dog isn't eating then take it to the vets.............something is definitely wrong when a dog doesn't eat for 5 days. What a dog eats or doesn't eat in this case is one of the easiest ways of telling that there is something wrong.
  17. Hi,as you have one of his dogs and are happy with it,can you say whether his kennels are as bad as some people have said on this site, and if they are wouldn't it be better to stop buying from him for the good of the dogs...........if he was out of business then a decent breeder could take over as there is certainly a market for the crosses. Just playing devils advocate, and not trying to upset anybody.....by the way I don't know anything about Hancock apart from what I have read in 'My life with lurchers'
  18. Nice dogs mate, you'll have tio get some photo's of them working for us to enjoy!
  19. You shouldn't run after her,you would do better running in the opposite direction, the dog will then think they are being left and should come back.Another way is to get down onto your knees and make a whooping shreiking sound, they find this so weird that they come back to see what is the problem.Don't forget to praise them when they come back, and never shout at them when they eventually do come back however long it has taken,or they will associate coming back with something negative.Good luck.....it just takes patience and time!
  20. I like the look of the border mate,he/she has a serious look!
