    i've got a darswed dog. She is an absolute cracker - noisy as a pack of hounds when scenting - to be honest she lives to work and is always trying to track or kill something. Great characters well bred by a knowledgeable chap.

    Just read this - proper PITA for you. My wife has anaphalactic reaction to wasps, hornets and Tsetse flies. She carries epipens and a mobile with her all the time but having seen her get stung - i reckon you made the right choice.

    Yes Wilf - the vet just called - the bigger bone has been pinned and the smaller one plated. the plate can then be taken out or left in if needed. cheers

    Morning all. My 4 month old whippet/ grey collided with one of the other dogs yesterday and snapped her tibia and fibia bones in her front leg. She is off to be operated on this morning. How long do you think it will take to mend? it is a clean snap through both bones at the same point. cheers

    Mine comes when called - that is about all the training I have felt the need to do - she goes to ground, tracks deerr finds rabbits under brambles and hares on the fields - don't think they are any slouch though - trying to keep up through scrub is impossible! If it goes to ground then it isn't coming out until it is good and ready so you can have a wait on your hands. That said ib see more wildlife with her than i ever saw before.

    Got a GWP, a springer, a teckel, a whippet x Grey and a saluki x. Good fun - not a quiet walk either.

    Depends on a lot. I have a gundog - a GWP. She hunts, points and retrieves pheasants, grouse and partridge. She also goes ferreting but when not ferreting is not allowed to look at rabbits. she is never allowed to chase hares but she is allowed to point them and retrieve them. I use her for deer work -both indicating deer in woodland and tracking hit deer. It is a versatile breed and i try to do as much as I possibley can with her - all of that takes a lot of training but she is a smart dog and it is in her blood to learn.
