  1. Why? whippets don't, greyhounds don't (always ) Its all relative mate, Little light dogs only needs little light frames I accept they would only be able to do rabbits. But if there was a decent working strain going id try one Imagine how a tiny dog of that size would be able to turn. Lots of lads on here sport massive bull crosses when all we can legally hunt is rabbits and rats. Sledge hammer and brass tacks spring to mind. Im not knocking anyone its just my opinion.
  2. was it all black or all white mate?
  3. I always though Saluki or sloughi were the oldest sighthound and..... paintings from ancient Egyptian tombs from around 3000 B.C. depict a dog bearing a striking resemblance to the Ibizan hound, so they are fairly old too. Where is it written that the italian greyhound are the oldest? Im not having a go, just wondering how do you've worked that out?
  4. I was walking back to car by that time mate, 7 bells is almost lunch in my house. I should have made her drive......
  5. She is doing well mate, it helps no end that she is so eager to please.

In fairness it wont THAT big, honest Im glad iv got more patience with pups nowadays, A few years ago i would have stormed off home mad with the dog, Now it goes over my head, you've got to laugh. ye same here i've been out of the game a few years but just taken on a puppy and a young bitch of 10 months and i have also got loads more patience with them nowdays, i guess it the age thing I think having my two daughters did it for me, If you can cope in a house full of women running a pup on is nothing At one time i was abit quick with the fists

  9. Well what a morning i've had with the sapling lurcher (spider) and an old Jill ferret. I got out early this morning planning to show spider the ropes and hopefully bolt a few rabbits for her. It started badly, I was trying to be as quiet as possible as i turned into the pup carpark. Being a little bleery eyed (thanks Fosters) i didnt notice the a pile of tarmac and promptly drove over it making an almight thud and scuffing sound under the motor. Not cool! I got Spider out and she has a habit of getting right under my feet and as I swung the ferret box on to my shoulder I tripped over the
  10. Ive noticed the same, alot of pricked birds with the clear pigeons. Iv gone up to a 1/2 choke and it improved things but i wont be buying anymore gamebore stuff
  11. Blimey, iv got a pup about 9 months who is the spitting image of yours. She looks very smart mate.
  12. Read what I have posted above, several close life-long friends of mine were involved in some of the incidents he describes and I have seen some of the dogs figured in the book work. Now, I'm no friend of his, but despite not liking the bloke I can assure you that he has done more than most on here will ever dream of. A lot of what he writes about happened before you were even born, but he was very well known in certain circles at one time and had a certain influence on the development of the patterdale at one time. I'm also about to start writing a book and believe me, many of the details of p
  13. He allegely kept a diary of names and places and things caught. He can remember what dogs he had with him and how old they were at the time, and even the type of bike the copper was riding But....oddly enough not where the event took place. Like i said, i really enjoyed reading the book, if its based on a true story with a few deatails airbrushed in them thats good enough for me. But if its all made up then Didrikson is no better than the "fake" (Didriksons words) Plummer. Tesco, Who's Frank Stacey? byron, Im not sure things have changed that much Iv done a few things in my time, n
  14. Has anyone read the above book? I really enjoyed reading it, but is it real of a work of fiction? It's written like a true account of a life of hunting, But there are some odd bits. In one chapter the author descibes a village green and goes on to regale us with an amusing story about chasing hares in explicit detail, but he is unsure about where it happened!! Whats the opinion? I don't mind stories that have been embellished abit as long as the event actually happed.

    true story

Iv heard this several times i wonder which "version" is the true one?
  16. Yes, if a semi or a pump has a 3 1/2" chamber the magazine is designed to hold two 3 1/2" cartridges so there for will accept three 2 1/2" shells plus one in the chamber. IF YOU DO THIS ITS CLASSED AS A SECTION 1 FIREARM, If you use it as intended (like i use mine) as a sec 2 its legal.
  17. I just read the article, that guys full of shite, Someone show me a 2" 12 bore cartridge thats available to buy today.......
  18. Mines a Beretta A400 3 1/2" chamber and "probably" could take three 2 1/2" shells. Its only illegal if you load three in the magazine. Any 3 1/2" chambered gun with a tube mag has the potential to be illegal. Chill out and enjoy the gun, Just as a word of warning Gamebore clear pigeon will defo fit 3 in your mag so probably better to avoid that particular cartridge
  19. Imagine naming yourself pro keeper lol............... fkn hell, surprised your head doesn't get in the road of you typing........ Why who the "feck" are you! And why would you come on and try to ruin yet another post... Why do we have tits like this joining our site!!! Who wasted the thread, the guy who makes a comment or the tit who responds??? Im suprised your plums dont get in the road of your typing........Sugar coated plums is a pretty terrible name too pal.
  20. I used Fiocchi GLF20s 28grams of number 6 with a fibre wads when i used my 20. Gone back to 12 now because carts are cheaper LOL. They were a good fairly cheap shell, cant remember what i paid now but prices will have gone up anyway.
  21. Them pictures are bang on mate. that dogs a credit to you.
  22. One thing you need to remember, when you speak about deerhounds is that somewhere about the beginning of the 19th century the deerhound had almost died out. the dogs of today may look like the dogs of old that were bred for hunting deer, but the modern dogs of today were never bred for work and carry the blood of other breeds used to revive them , such as borzoi, bloodhound and I've even read of pyrenean mountain dog ! So that might explain why all the deerhounds I've seen run, didn't live up to their reputation. The saluki on the other hand has been kept pure for centuries. Thats wolfh
