  2. Look back through the threads in the terrier section . . . OTC
  3. Not got the blue eyes Kay, but I'm 6 foot 4 so maybe that will make up for it  OTC
  4. Pm Matt the Rat on here - he will help you to find 'proper' Fenn traps. A lot of the cheaper types you might find are pretty useless, of poor quality and are actually not approved for use OTC
  5. Wilf - check out Carl Zeiss - you won't go far wrong with those OTC
  6. I thought that was invented by Sir Rowland Hill - an Englishman . . . ?? OTC
  7. Get one of these put under the tree http://www.screwfix.com/prods/53829/Hand-T...nd-Point-Shovel OTC
  8. The only animals apart from humans that can shed a tear are . . . A giraffe and a bumble bee OTC
  9. Great mould boys - I bet the church roof will be getting a hammering now . . . OTC
  10. Personally I don't see the advantage that the slider has over a ring apart from cost which is insignificant anyway. There are occasions where the slider actually locks against the drawcord like a tent guy tensioner and reduces its pursing potential if the pull is not direct. They are also slightly harder to knit from than a ring and fiddly to make if you don't have a jig Rings for me everytime OTC
  11. Snareman, Woodga, Peg&Gun, Duckwing, Moley, and anyone else proficient with wires . . . Please let me see your comments and reaction to this OTC
  12. A first edition in good condition without dustwrapper will be worth about £35, I sold a copy in equal state recently OTC
  13. That's the best bit of advice - get the pro's in before ratty eats through the wiring and causes a fire OTC
  14. http://www.scottishcountrysidealliance.org...%20Scotland.pdf No fox wires through or under fence lines, through hedges, not attached to fences, not alongside fencelines, not on footbridges, or planks, or alongside streams or rivers . . . Clear proof that no-one listened if GW did speak to them - 4 inch loop and 3 inch high for rabbits . . . I don't think they would have been his recommendations would they?? More office driven politics without the faintest idea of the real world - I wish these people would bloody listen to some sense once in a while. It makes me mad OTC
  15. I will look forward to reading the report when it is published - if anyone knows of a link or location where I can find it then please post it so I can have a look. I'd just like to know what's destined to come our way that's all . . . OTC
  16. Does anyone know the credentials of the panel of so-called 'experts' that created this? Are they genuine experienced trappers or deskbound wannabees? Did anyone with knowledge 'assist' in its creation?? In my experience a lot of BASC/GWCT etc authorities wouldn't know how to begin with setting and using snares or traps effectively despite what they think. If this is the case then it will fall at the first hurdle, despite the ability through education to use GW's snare designs to our advantage (and I say 'our' as in UK wide as the rest of the country will surely follow suit)
  17. I don't have many morals so far as trapping is concerned but from a humane aspect I do find the thought of using mouse tack boards a bit hard to justify OTC
  18. Mine too Johnny - looks good Thanks for the personal signatures OTC
  19. Oh OK, a tophole funnel trap . . . they have been around a long time. To build a better mousetrap . . . . OTC
  20. Go on then, I will be the one to ask as I am intrigued . . . What is a tea tray mouse trap??? OTC
  21. No it's not like an albino at all - it is a whole new species of squirrel - Prevost's Squirrel or Asian Tri-colored Squirrel (Callosciurus prevostii) OTC
  22. Are you sure that it wasn't the roaming farm dogs that chewed up your snared rabbit?? OTC
  23. Ian, I don't want to get involved in the debate but I have looked back through my Young's catalogues which reach back to the 1920's and they all quote '2 1/4 inch mesh' and stipulate that, and I quote again '150 yards of Netting is fitted to every 100 yards of line'. They were made in varying lengths and could be made to 3 feet and 4 feet in height. The silk nets were made to 3 1/2 feet or 4 feet in height. It also states that 'Special mesh for young rabbits can be made to order' I hope this helps - if you need any further detail please ask OTC
