  1. Redleg Partridge, Rob?? Difficult to get a judge of the size there . . OTC
  2. I wonder too - perhaps it is a bird netter on the migration route or something?? I was watching a trio of them sitting outside the farmhouse this evening - they seemed to be waiting patiently for tomoroow's forecast rain to soften the mud to start with their nest building. I had one whizzing round my kitchen on Monday - obviously thought my beams looked just right for a nest site!! OTC
  3. Caught this one myself a couple of years back in my garden - gave him a firm telling off before I let him go OTC
  4. No me neither John but it doesn't seem quite right to me for some reason . . . I will look into it this week and report any findings I make OTC
  5. They are good to place against the edge of a stone wall etc if you make them this way too OTC
  6. They do work but not as well. The real thing is much better but since it is illegal to use live animals to attract others (like the old use of a pegged ferret on a line) then a dead one is as good as you can do these days. An RTA owl is what I have used with good success in the past. OTC
  7. nope That's what I use to think, but look at the link. It states Kania 2000 I am still not convinced but it does say in black and white there - you're right I don't have the latest AO amend at hand - is it still the same on there?? OTC
  8. The next time you pass an unfortunate owl dead on the roadside stop and pick it up, and pop it into the freezer. Whenever you need to sort out any member of the crow family dig it out, set it up on a prominant post, hide yourself away with the shotgun and wait . . . OTC
  9. Truly phenomenal footage of one of the keenest hunters doing what he does best OTC
  10. I was a little confused by your posts above but I have sussed it now - why would you need to fit an additional tunnel to what is effectively a purpose made cubby set killer trap? The Kania 2500 has no cubby and is designed to fit into a tunnel made for the purpose in accordance with the AO BUT The Kania 2000 (as used by Rolfe there) was was designed as a standalone set-up and every picture I have seen of it set or having sprung have no shown need for such a tunnel to be fitted - including those shown by the manufacturer or UK distributor. http://www.magnumtrap.com/kania.html M
  11. That's what I would do too Watch that feed doesn't trickle in under the pan too Donks or it will need the weight of a bull elephant to fire it OTC
  12. You could always use the old spinning brick method to make your wires if you aren't up to much in the engineering department . . . The wires are as good as any 'machine' twisted ones OTC
  13. I used an old hand drill to make mine - simple adjustment and a quick weld onto a base bar for clamping to my workbench. OTC
  14. # WRF 2 toes???? Look again young one . . . I can see 4 toes. Perhaps you could spend your plentiful pocket money on new glasses It is a difficult print to ID without the full print or any idea of scale - it could be anything from a springer spaniel to a mink as it stands OTC
  15. Nice Byron - I only ever managed to get up to 3 nests in my youth, each clutch had an odd coloured egg in it - one was plain sky blue as I remember - it was a while back now though! OTC
  16. That's right Ditch - you can see the mud plastering the entrance hole to just the right size. I tried to get a pic of the parents at the site but they were straight in and out feeding the young ones inside. OTC
  17. Who lives here?? The site - a tree above a steep sided cutting OTC
  18. Get a cage in beside that old fence post Ditch, with a signal that you can see from the road ~ that way you can check without having to conduct the gladatorial effort every day to get there OTC
  19. Far too much walking around on top of the buries for my liking . . . Very good Frank OTC
  20. I realise that I really should know the answer to this question but will the hens lay happily without a cock bird there with them?? OTC
  21. I am a sucker for a neatly built nest and nice clutch of eggs, but haven't found much out of the ordinary so far this year. Let's see what everyone else has found please? I have been searching for a chaffinch nest today but without success, but I did find a yellowhammer, linnet, wren and mallard. Unfortunately I didn't take the camera - I will next time, I promise! OTC
