  1. Yes, it was her. She used a greyhound over one of her deerhound bitches. At the time some people thought she'd done it to get more speed but it wasn't. She did it as she was worried the gene pool was too small and wanted an outcross. Although she continued to cross back to deerhounds nobody else in the breed would use any of those outcrosses in their own breeding programme, which really annoyed her.   2. I'm sure his dogs had very diluted deerhound blood, 7/8ths greyhound and the like. Used to have a bit of correspondence with tom many years ago still got a few letters about. He kindly offered me a pup free of charge around 1995 but i was unable to take him up on his kind offer the breeding was the same as you quoted.

She was cracking stamp of a bitch, is that the one that belonged to Alan do you the deerhound cloud that alan had, was out of kenneth cassells breeding,there was a good write up on alan and cloud in the 1991 running dog year book,it was called a man for all seasons, dont know if youve seen it,but a nice little write up,not sure if bitch in sheardowns book is the same cloud.   5. i watched a few 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhounds in the 90s andy baron bred and they could do a job on hares. i asked the same question on another forum a while ago and was told the deerhound line was Ardkinglas.
  6. Deffo Darbo, as well as the house the walled gardens are great, then the stables and the farm. The real treasure is the old kennels. Not part of the visitor trail, they are magnificent. Maybe AT can get some photos on one of his walks. i cant think why ive never been its only about 11 miles away sounds great for a day out and the walled gardens are something id be very intrested in seeing thanks for the heads up.

  13. A old saying said to me in 1980 when i started my apprenticeship by a old scouse fella. He who works and tries his best goes down the road with all the rest. He who f#rts and f#cks about gets to see the job last out. The saying proved to be correct many times over the years unfortunatley.

    i seem to remember a pitbull fighting a bear in that film, is that right? There is a scene with a bear and dogs but i cant remember if it was a pit bull. :hmm:Long time since ive watched it
