  1. whats the pros and con of the two.243.6.5x55 Both very flat shooters, but 6.5x55 out to a greater distance, 243 marginally cheaper ammo and most shops will keep a wider choice in this calibre, but 6.5 is readily available in most places as it is becoming very popular. Obviously the 6.5 has a much greater knock down as you can use 156 grn head, but will also take a much lighter one for a fairly hot fox round. 243 a little less recoil and quieter, i bought two steyr pro hunters one in each of the calibres, both s/s synthetics the only difference one has a swarovski on top the other a sch
  2. Ricky npp, i was a tackle tart, i bought every rapala etc etc, the more expensive the better, but only one ever got wet, rapala j 13, blue and white, bass love them. Anyone know anybody that wants to buy a collection of top quality plugs and lures in A1 condition.
  3. I have a 243 and a 6.5x55 both very capable but on big fallow or red in the rut i think the latter has the edge, it has very low recoil but deffinetly needs a can, unless you like your ears to bleed that is.
  4. As Sako said, but also Norma 100 grn sp worth a try, can be very good in some guns.
  5. Good post and a great picture, when things go fubar like the first buck sure gets the old adrenalin going, i was right there with you for a moment. all the best MT.

  9. Are you sure your quite ready for that sort of power, . Very nice job though MC. iSNT SUFFOLK FLAT THOUGH. :thumbs-up:
  10. You ever tried going the other way ?, we drove the landy down to Gibralta, £60 to fill up here, £47,ish France, Spain £40,ish Gibralta which is British, well until that shithouse bl.ir finally finishes giving it away £30,ish, something a bit fishy there me thinks.
  11. BRNO for me to, tasco milldot, parker hale mod, whole set up less than £300
  12. Talking of using for dispatching, any idea what sort of ft lbs this would be in .177 at say 18" from the muzzle, . Had a crossman for the job but like MC says having to fork out for the capsules was a right arse ache.
  13. Used to have a theoben fenman profile, shyhedua skeleton stock in .177, very pretty gun, did not perticularly like the very sudden almost snappy firing cycle though. Sold it at the same time as my rapid 7, now that was a very useful tool. Last week bought one of those bsa tactical xl,s in .22, fired 250,ish shots, yesterday packaged it all up to send back, couldnt shoot for sh.t with it, so no use to me being a pesty, , oh well live and learn.
  14. Take a canoe, have fun all you boys from down here, see you in THE pub when you get back.
  15. YOU MEAN BARRYMORES A LEFT FOOTER, NO WAY.
  16. Never a truer word spoken, remember feeling the same myself not long ago, remember recieving a load of crap to, stick with it, generally it is worth it, (honestly).
  17. Not on an air rifle unless it was really pushing down on the barrel, if it were a full bore then it could have affected the barrels harmonics, but in this case wouldnt have thought it a problem.
  18. Little loyd i know why you really want to hang around up on the downs, you wouldnt be thinking of buying some NV now would you. Always used to be a prime perv spot, especially by the suspension bridge. Was told anyway.

yes thats exactly what i was trying to say born hunter, .
  22. Wilf that is exactly my point, you only have to look at the rediculous (discussion) i was involved in last night on snoopdogs how to catch a deer with your hands and kill it with a knife thread, ffs if this sort of stuff is being monitored the hunting of wild animals will soon be reigned to history. i await the next tirade of abuse, name calling and such ramblings.

    fps

Could be totally wrong here, certainly would not be the first time, but working on what MC has just said, if a .22 pellet is travelling at around 510 fps when it leaves the muzzle it is producing roughly 12 ft lbs energy, so if when it reaches its intended target it needs to have retained 4 ft lbs energy then it needs to be travelling at a minimum of 170 fps. . Where are all the mathematicians when you need them.
  25. Bullmastiff Clayflint is right, much better than the text one line shit, dont cut out the story unless people are going to die of boredom, those sort of posts may need a little pruning. nice 1 m (8)t.
