  1. Hi LoganSinclair. You don't mention the make and model of your scope and given the current poor weather temperatures we are having this year, it's very likely you are out in moist, humid air. It sounds to me like your scope is not filled with Nitrogen. Or it's leaked away empty somehow, over time. This element repels moisture build-up inside the scope; with shifting outside temperatures happening inside the scope's bodytube and keeps the internal faces of the lens from fogging with internal condensation. There is nothing you can do unless your scope is under warranty and can be re
  2. Awww She really is a bonny lass, 'our Laura! Where did you get this made, I wouldn't mind having a 'PIANOMAN' one made for meets and competitions. Cheers Si. Simon
  3. Hello Marticus. The application and conditions you must meet for getting an FAC for an air rifle are the same as those for a .rim/centrefire rifle. So, like it or not, you will be subject to the police making personal background checks about you; clearing your permission as a suitable hunting ground with safe-distance boundaries and visiting checks of your home security; steel gunsafe bolted to a supporting wall etc. etc. After all, a .22 pellet will have the same lethal power as a .22 bullet if the power's there in the rifle to fire it. If you want a spring rifle to perform superbly at
  4. She is mate, very nice indeed. That's my idea of rifle-heaven right there!
  5. Great film interview! Terry Doe and Dave Welham are two men after my own heart when it comes to regarding and shooting a spring rifle. Listen to what they say from 12:35 onwards. It's absolute perfect truth. Nothing beats knowing you have an extremely accurate spring rifle like an HW77, on about 11.3ft/lbs and you are constantly working on your technique; developing the skills to re-compose yourself and your hold techniques, shallowing down your breathing and slowing your pulse down to a mere beep shot, after shot, after shot and then.... reliably, hit a penny sized raggy-hole
  6. WOW! Aye! That's the new design alright Davy. Here they have it in the fancy laminated Lux finish. The white spacers and grip-cap are no more but, it has a nicely fluted rake to the forestock and a purposeful-looking buttstock I like the look of. And there's chequering to the forestock which, is about time it had some! In walnut or walnut-stained Beech that Weihrauch source well, I think it would look fabulous. It has that certain practical shootability look to it. I really love the look of it. Thanks for putting that up Davy I'm a bloody useless case at doing it with thes
  7. Probably no different John. Hold sensitivity is more a matter for our contact on the rifle, how it takes to our handling of it and how well, or not, we control and manage the amount of inherent recoil each and every individual rifle produces. There's bound to be some sensitivity, mind. I must say I'm more than happy with the classical line of the traditional HW77 stock and in particular, the neutral buttstock and wrist I have on mine. I love it for the fact that it is purely neutral and has no left or right cheekpiece on the comb. I guess the only way to know how the new design handles
  8. Chris if this Longbow is what you say he is., after reading what you've been putting into your own rifle, he must be bloody incredible! Dean I'm certain Si won't mind. We are not given our skills and talents so we can sit on them and keep schtum while watching a fellow in need of a bit of help, flounder about blindly. There's enough of that already in the world out there. Bugger-You-Jack-I'm-Alright sort of attitudes. (Bankers mostly). I won't have that. Not where I'm concerned and neither do most right thinking fellows here. Anything you need from me laddie just you ask. And I'll
  9. What a fabulous picture. There was a French 18th century classical painter called Pierre Gustavus Claude whom painted the most beautiful sunset light in his maritime and landscape paintings. This is just as he painted his evening sunset and morning sunrise skies. Our own JMW Turner was a master of the evening light too. This is just like the works of great painters. Beautiful colour harmony and balance Darryl. Simon.
  10. I'm not able to join in as, again, I'm out working on my company's stand at RAF Coningsby's Avro Lancaster event this Sunday. (And I need every penny right now!) Burt, Davy. Wurz Si and Chaz, if you are going have a great day and show em what you got! Next year I'm gonna get myself sorted and see if I can go all out for the title! It'll be a great crack and I want a shot at it! Pianoman
  11. Another bloody nut who can't tell the difference between his TV and his microwave Mike? Hardly a rare event these days.
  12. Now Andy steady on here mate. Children could be reading! It's very sweet! Lovely rifle. Not too long, not too short. Has a very nice and compact feel to it. And it cracks off good and sharp with a crisp letoff, No sense of lag or drag. I really like it! Simon
  13. Gas Ram for an HW80? Never again! I had one fitted to an HW80K some years ago. It wasn't a happy marriage and ended up smashing a valuable scope with vicious recoil vibration. Like Andy says, get an HW90 and have done! Superbly accurate the HW90, very nicely proportioned and a tough, hard working rifle you can get out and use. If you decide to go ahead, don't even think of putting a Hawke scope on it. It won't make it through ten shots if it was anything like mine! Pianoman
  14. Check out the Game show hostess puking live on air. Seems fine and well.....and then.... Charming!
  15. I can assure you Dean, it'll be the best price of a pint you ever need to spend. The Sandwell kit would be a brilliant option as the spring they include is pretty high tech and very long lasting and Andy will do a marvelous job for you. Get in touch with Sandwell Field Sports for one. Simon.
  16. Hmmm Sorry to read of your findings with the two new HW95 rifles you worked on Mike. Air Arms too can have their 'off' moments, I've heard lately too. I've been incredibly lucky with the rifles I have from both makers. They are beautifully built and finished all of them. But, they are over 10 years old all four of them and, that was a great time for buying new. Nowadays, I'd be inclined to take my pal Andy's advice and look for a quality spring rifle made about 10 years ago. There are some beautiful examples of HW80s HW77s, TX200s and Prosports on sale for very reasonable money out t
  17. Great to see these pics and read what you have been able to do. It's been a frustrating year for a lot of us really. I'm really fed up with the weather right now! All the best. Pianoman
  18. That's brilliant shooting young fella. Great to read up on what a fellow can do with some proper kit.....(I refer to the HW97, naturally!) Nicely done Lewis. Great shooting, great pics and very enjoyable write-up. With compliments and regards. Simon
  19. Dean it was a genuine pleasure dear lad. Sincerely now. You are a credit to your mum who's raised you right and a fine ambassador for young people in the sport and that cannot be emphasised enough, just how important is the role that you and the good lads and lasses like you, play in the future of shooting in Britain. Should you wish to spend more days out with me you only have to ask. If I'm around, my time is yours my young friend. I promise you. There are some amazingly kind and generous men here who will help you with an answer or a practical solution to any problem you may ha
  20. Hi Chris. Brilliant to read what you've done with this HW80 mate. I'd absolutely love to shoot with it for a spell. Glad to read you are finding the desired result with the RWS Superfields. Are they as slack fitting in your barrel breech as they are mine? Still, they really do fly well and hit like hell at this sort of oomph! Superb hunting round for the rifle that's certain. Reading about your boy's ambitions on winning the Air Training Corps shooting competitions is heartening. We still have young people who want to make something with worthwhile organizations like this. That remind
  21. Seconded Dean's post. I'd rather have a well used but serviceable, second hand Weihrauch HW80 or HW80K at this price any day or night, over a spanking brand new QB wotsit! Like you said sir! What does it matter what it looks like! Pianoman
  22. Hey Chris that's a wonderful thing to read. Thank you so much mate. I'm quietly proud and not a little flattered that my writing has had such a profound effect. Particularly the more so from a man who clearly, knows his gunsmithing to a level of expertise in practical application as you do. And produced a greater appreciation for the good old spring rifle and what it can do. If you know how to coax yourself and it together, it's incredible how accurate these rifles can be at your shoulder; as you are well aware. And that's the beauty of them and air rifles generally. You don't need massiv
  23. Ghillies your posts at this hour need subtitles mate! Love it! ATB. Simon
  24. So you're stone cold sober when you write these posts. Wow! Man you are my hero Ghillies mate... Honestly! Simon
  25. PMSL!!  Man but you are one vividly different dude when it comes to abstract response Ghillies! What the hell do you drink at this wee hour?!! All the best anyway mate. Simon
