Mary if you are reading this, it sounds like you need to re-examine your shooting style. At no time can I ever remember using my thumb and index finger of either hand as a support against the weight of the rifle. My shoulder and forehand do the job of support while my left, controlling hand gently supports with the palm at the swell, three lower fingers around the grip and thumb resting up the wrist or back of the grip and trigger finger gently on the blade. A correct hold contains no pressure whatsoever, other than the resting weight of the rifle on your leading palm and your shoulder to gen

Hi Henry. Well, the Prosport is a very smooth shooting rifle straight out of the box. Just like a tuned special. You will not encounter recoil problems with your scope's retical getting damaged. Also, I've had both my TX200 rifles for ten years and neither have required any major strip-down overhaul. The springs are the originals fitted by the factory and there is not a note of twang on firing, after thousands of shots each. I cannot see things being different with the Prosport Henry. I heard someplace many moons ago not to use a sillicone based oil for servicing, but, more skilled technical

Yeah, i think i'm going to get the pro sport it's just too beautiful! i've got a hawke map pro at the moment but i fancy getting a new one, possibly a side winder or something. can you recommend a scope for the pro sport in 177. There are a few reasons why i want the pro sport over anything... 1. sooo beautiful. 2. seriously accurate in the right hands. 3. no charging equipment etc. 4. cheaper than post pcp's. 5. can use 177. jsb poly mag predators. (don't fit in autoloaders) 6. Awesome for both hunting a field target. many many more reasons Cheerz for all the help thou

On second thoughts this guy should stick with his Hatstand..f**k knows what might happen if he had a real rifle in his hands... Ahhh now I see. Thank you Andy! Simon

What, pray, is the meaning of "Bump "??? (It's my age dears!) Simon

Well yeah, I guess I was the second time but, I was angry at such an infantile outburst. I never wrote anything against the man that was savage and uncalled for as his wife described my initial post to him. Even those who tried to calm the situation and appeal to his better senses were dismissed out of hand. I have one major weakness, I cannot sit silent when some prat is blasting off at people who have born no ill feeling against him and have really only tried to be helpful. I don't bear any grudging ill will or hard feelings towards him and his wife. He's just another odd bod you meet o

He was acting like a silly bugger posting in the name of a second party with a set-up second account apparently so he could expose what he took to be a scammer. I merely pointed out, as I would to a friend or relative, that if he only stopped buying cheap junk in the pursuit of something for nothing and instead, went to a good gun dealer and bought a decent quality rifle, he wouldn't be subject to internet scammers and might actually get down to some profitable hunting with a rifle that was up to the task. Well, he hit the friggin roof went into meltdown and took his bat and ball home. The

Sure I'd be gutted. But that was what I wanted him to feel. The feelings of the other guys didn't come into the act. And for that I felt really bad for. I actually told one of them I knew well and, while he wasn't happy, he fully understood why. The land is wholly privately owned by a farming man I grew up from birth with as a close family friend and I've been shooting over it for over 43 years. His family have owned and farmed it for generations; centuries probably. My father and Grandfather shot here with his father and grandfather. I shoot as often as time and my work allows. The lads

To be honest James he really is. Apart from happily running his dogs over fields where he knows you or anyone with permission would be shooting, not the miles of it we have here, he once reported me to the Police for having unlicenced FAC air weapons. I knew nothing until I had a knock at the door one afternoon and two firearms police officers had arrived to arrest me on suspicion of possessing unlicenced firearms, inspect my collection and take it all away for checks. I have everything all legally certificated for my on-ticket air rifles but I had to submit to having those plus my sub 12ft

Thank you for the link James. Note the paragraph on your responsibility for ensuring that the cartridge you shoot is cleared by the authorities for the land you shoot. This is what I'm trying to point out. If you do not have an open certificate, and the keeper here does not, he's told me that himself! Then, you are liable to being prosecuted for using a cartridge thast exceeds the conditions of your licence. I know from the firearms officers here, that the land is cleared for shotgun, .22 and 17HMR alright but .243 is not cleared for permitted use on it. Therefore, if you are caught using

this place is a joke sometimes , talk about calling the kettle black yep it was wrong and very illegal , armed trespass that mate , not something i would be bragging about on a forum. or maybe it was just a fairytale .. yep thats it a fairytale Not armed tresspass when you have permission old son. As for a fairytale..well, you'll never know for sure will you..."Chimp"

I'm talking about the .243 rifle he was using on land where such a calibre is legally forbidden. Oh dear. Is it boring being unemployed with nothing better to do at this hour of the day than to hide behind you computer screen and snipe safely away? I have nothing further to say to you little man.

Salukiwhippet Let's just say there's more to this story than what I have revealed here. I've been shooting my permission for more years than he's had life. This guy is a short arsed bully and a little bloody thug, and I know for certain he has not got an open licence. The permission is the only shooting ground he covers and shoots over as it is so huge, but there are restrictions on the licence for it. if you had permission and access to shoot here, you would have had more than a run in with him for certain and the experience you'd have, would not see you posting your sneery twaddle in his de

Impasse madam? Stuff the Weihrauch owning elite Moley? But...your wife has just bought...Oh dear. Oh deary dear. I've just been out for the evening and I return to find this thread has stretched to seven pages of petulence and tantrums before bedtime. You have a very highly developed sense of self-contradiction and a very, very sensitive disposition here Moley. You have constantly sought for approval and compliment for every little action you perform, like an anxious schoolboy eager to be given a well done, pat on the head from his classmates and form master. And the moment anyone makes an

I have a very strong sense of fair play by the rules. I respected his birds and the shooting syndicate he runs so, I kept off. But, he thinks he's above the law and rules the roost and can do whatever the hell he wants. Other air gun lads have had no end of run-ins with this bolshy little prick. He wrecked my shooting for me, I wiped out his shoot for him! I once caught him poaching the deer from a high seat using a .243 rifle. That calibre is illegal anywhere on this shoot. The police firearms officers will not rate the land and issue licences for it because of the proximity of a main ro

Cheers for clearing that up Tony mate. It's really good to see you back here and participating again fella. Hope you are well. Sincerely. Simon

Cheers Davy. We dined very well that year

Moley. You've always spoken very respectfully of my shooting posts and I thank you for the compliments mate. But now I have some honest good and well-meant advice for you which will help you and your good wife's shooting enormously. Why don't you just stop this constant attempt at getting something for next to nothing and posting up every fart and sneeze you have in your persuit of it. Focus on getting a decent, hunting air rifle like most of us do, from a good gunshop who will welcome your business and support you practically with what you need, and get out practicing and hunting with it

Makes things a little clearer for me. I was always lead to believe it was illegal to hunt them with an air rifle. Never bothered to check that out really. I've shot scores of them for the pot, only because in the past, a certain gamekeeper on my permission would happily run his dogs on my shooting ground, after seeing my car parked up and deliberately screw up any hope of a decent dusk rabbit hunt. So I mercillessly hunted down and zapped his pheasants and partridges. I once culled his entire stock by sniping at the feeding bins and shooting everything of every bird I saw. Sure it was

Thanks for your response to my little bit of a ball-ache Ste. I'd say the ratio was about one in fifteen pellets found to be at fault, and that's pretty high to me. The trouble is, these H&N FTTs all look identically alike. There is no obvious size differences that you can actually see when you examine them with the naked eye. Because they need me to thumb each one into the breeches of my spring rifles, that's the only moment when you feel there's a bit of a difference going on. At the tip of your thumb. H&N Field Target Trophy have been my FAC HW80s staple diet for over a dec

The season advice is very important headshot. Your legitimate air rifle target vermin are; Rat, Rabbit, Grey Squirrel, Woodpidgeon, Ferral Pidgeon, Crow, Rook, Magpie, Jay, Jackdaw. Mink. That's all. Nothing more. And even some these have a certain level of legality to be aware of as to when and where you may or may not shoot them. Such as only when they are on land you have permission to shoot over and they are feeding on crops, thus are deemed to be pests. Waterfowl like Duck, Heron, or gamebirds bred for (paid-for) shooting like pheasants, grouse and partridge and such, are

All accurate shooting begins with giving yourself a datum by which to measure your shooting performance. For .22 try zeroing the scope and rifle at 25 metres. That's a really useful controlling range and you only need to adjust for longer/shorter ranges with an understandable degree of hold-over/under. And see how you get on from there! It's amazing what you can do from just 25 metres. Simon
