what are you feeding them on at the moment most on here will say RABBIT but in the past I've used chicken from the supermarket, worked out around £1.50 a day, but if you have 11, I'd say £2.00 some feed dry ferret food, as an alternative, but rabbit has got to be best

sick of cleaning hutches, so swopping for a court= much more cleaning, your ferts are still going to leave as much muck, just your have a bigger area, so it wont look as bad, but it will still need the same amount of cleaning, if not more I'm happy to do "more" cleaning I would just like to make it easier to do. Im sure scooping out couple of corners of muck once a day, and a proper clean when it needs it, in a nice big shed that i can easily get into will be quicker and easier, for me, than scooping shite out of seemingly every corner of a hutch on my knees, and trying to wash them out

in answer to your questions, yes a vasectamised hob and jill can live together all the time no, 2 jills in season should'ent fight, but they will stay in season, until brought out of it, either with a intact hob a vasectamised hob jill jab from vets so I'd say, go with the hob and jill option

try to find either a member from here, or even a rescue centre first, go and view and have a sniff, you have done the right thing in asking first, before rushing out and buying one, or two (better kept in pairs) either search through the pages here, or visit the libary and get some books to read on ferret keeping, hopefully you'll be a bit better prepaired in a couple of months or so, when breeders have got kitts to get rid off, that would also give you time to get a hutch/court sorted out, should you deciede to get some read all you can on ferrets in breeding season, as some people find thi

whin, why has it got to be "your way" or the highway its obvious lily ferret keep's ferts as pets, there's nothing wrong with that, or should we kill all ferrets and dogs that "dont make the mark" that sort of thing would really give the anti's some ammunition against us note to lily ferret; welcome to the forum, if you fill out your profile with a location, rather than just uk, you may find people in your area mighten you? not just ferreters, but ferret keepers too

true kay, I think too many people, leave it upto the vet, as his "job" is looked upon as knowledgable, I made certain, that I checked the vet out first, had experience doing op's on ferts, and on more than one occassion, made them realise is was vasectamising and not castration (sorry to hijack your topic dowen)

bloody hell mate, I'd definatly be looking for compensation, at the time of booking did you tell them, vasectamised or the snip?, if so I'd be there hammering on the door, work out a deal at least, where they do the "snip" for free, otherwise you'll get onto the local paper as for your hob now, I have a castrated hob in the court, we his 2 x vasectamised sons, plus a fully intact outcross, yup, they do try the mating with each other (randy sods) as the 5 jills are not yet in season, but fighting,no

left it a bit late, most breeders wont have young for a few months yet mate, and if you get some, you'll have to wait till later in the year why is that stubby still lpenty of time yet to do a bit i wont stop till the end of april if he gets youngsters, he would have to wait a while

all animals are Inividuals mate, you need to keep and eye on yours, and see how they react, someone could have hob and jills that live together without a hitch, you do the same, and have world war two on your hands, once your hob is snipped and as kay suggests, a couple of months down the line, introduce them, if your jills are in season, he'll bring them out of it, then sit back and watch, only you can see how they are doing with each other many years ago, I took the advice that ALL jills and hobs would live fine together, so Intrduced a hob to my 3 jill court, they are him
