  1. you'll need a bloody big freezer
  2. I was always led to belive, that they had to give it two weeks to see if an owner came forward, then if not, do there things for re-homing, I'd get on the phone to them, and just say to the manager that your putting it in the hands of your solicitor, see if they say anything
  3. well only because if they get kitts, they have a year (ish) before having to sort that out,
  4. hi mate, 1, its best to keep two or more ferrets, Id say approx 2 legs of chicken sort of amount, some people keep a dry ferret mix down all the time, but feed meat (rabbit) daily, if you can work it out, I have 9 ferts and they get a whole rabbit daily between them all, minus the head and rear legs 2,attention wise; you get out, what you put in, meaning if you want to spend half hour each day with them, fine, but dont expect to have a great ferret, ferrets are like all domestic animals, the more you handle them, the better they get, they dont bite, they will be easyier to work etc
  5. welcome, from one essex member to another
  6. its put on the back of neck, so animal cant lick/groom it off, I'd suggest maybe giving him a bath, then leave it a day or so, remember that he could be scratching from other things too, reaction to the dot on, or just an itch, have you seen flea's on them?
  7. its pee'ing down with rain, its cold we have a perfectly good house, full central heating, 42" flat screen tv on the wall, yet me and my missus are sitting in me shed, around the wood burning stove, with the jack russel, listening to the chickens
  8. how far away are you from essex mate?
  9. was it a spray, powder or dot on back of neck??
  10. ask/look on the for sale section, check out e bay, replies other than in the for sale section will be deleated, although members can pm you
  11. I would'ent worry to much on the water situation mate, apart from quenching thirst with the blood, a fert can go a good 2 weeks without a water supply, as long as food/meat is present
  12. it what respect?, can you not post them, or do you need help on how to do it
  13. so, at long range, how do you tell it's not tiddles from that house yonder taken from the ADAS pest manuel; it has been shown that domestic cats will join feral cat colonies for a few hours at a time, before returning to their familiar fireside
  14. one of my ferts, had been fed mainly on dry food before he came to me, had very course hair, dry was still put down in the court for him, along with the bowl of rabbit for all the others, over time he has become a big rabbit fan, with the occasional egg, once in a blue moon, looks like he's been using vidal susoon (conditioner) now, so maybe RABBIT has all that they need some may say that a wild polecat would eat eggs/milk in the wild, if they could find them, true, but getting their paws on sugar, breadcrumbs and a microwave may take some doing
  15. of course, freezing is ok, what else would you do with 20 plus rabbits after a days ferreting, after gutting in the field, get them home, cop head and paws off, lets you get more in the freezer, leave the fur on, saves them sticking together once frozen, if you only have a couple of ferts, maybe a better Idea to chop the rabbits into 3 pieces, then take out one piece a day (the day before needed so as to defrost) and feed that way
  16. shaggy, Im sure if someone locked you in a cage, let you "sniff" scantily clad woman from time to time, then chucked you in another cage with two ladies, you'd be doing the same as him if the girls arnt ready for him, they wont let him go to far, remember theres two of them, they can gang up on him,
  17. its getting better and better, they have today laid 8 eggs from 8 hens fried egg sarnies are wicked
  18. have noticed a few members asking about mk3 collar batteries, well I ordered a pack of fifty from e bay for £7.99 and £2.00 postage, got them within two days, and they work perfectly the sellers name is; worldofbatteries
  19. grim it was me that deleated your post, steffan, I get the impression from your question, that you have one ferret, if so, theres your answer, combine that with richie's answer, on most warrens, were entering 5 to 6 ferrets, if your entering only one, the rabbits have no need to bolt, they know the warren better than the fert, and can give it the run around underground, either ge more ferts, or try and find another ferreter to go out with it could also be, that another ferreter, is hitting the warrens that your trying before you
  20. I would have said, keep your trap shut ajw, your 1st post in two months, and your talking like that to a valued forum member
  21. of course it will, milk, once a week maybe as a treat to fully grown ferts, but deffo not to young, it will give the diarria, and mum fert will have milk, ferret waste should be semi to solid consistancy, if its loose, its eating too rich you'll be saying milk and a little bread next, as that was used years ago, dont mean it was correct
  22. rabbits are rabbits mate, its still free food for your ferts, feeding ferrets on chicken from a supermarket is ok short term, but feeding a pregnant jill and then later all the kitts on chicken, aint really going to give her/them the best start in life, these are all the sort of things that new or inexperienced breeders face, and normally not worry about untill its too late, dont breed just because you'vre been told its amazing before starting breeding, make sure you have extra cages/hutches more money for any unexpected bills that come along a supply of rabbit homes for the kitts
  23. devvo, have you got one leg shorter than the other
